  1. I often wondered whether the artist who drew the cover for the original marvel comics Star Wars #1 had ever seen the movie either. A green Darth Vader, Han Solos blaster is purple Luke and Obi wans Lightsabres are red among other mistakes.

  2. I only ever had a crummy Stormtrooper as my TIE "pilot"…As it so happens TIE pilots were kinda just black Stormtroopers…so my 6 year old self painted my first ever Stormtrooper black…using this old goopey crystallized black high gloss paint my Dad had in the shed for God know how many years…

Then the actual TIE pilots came out for ESB, and I wanted my Stormtrooper back…so my 9 year old self used a scalpel to scrape the paint off.

I was a work in progress I like to think.

Anyway…am now restoring my poor flayed Trooper's face and other details with a silicone mould I took from a non-damaged trooper..and I hope to have him repainted, and re-carded soon.

AS to MY TIE Fighter?..I thought it looked too wide, and so I removed 2 of the bracing pylons, or whatever they are..the part that fired the wings off….and filled the spring sides with hot glue….I wonder if I will ever get that glue out.

    Ugh.

  3. “Imperial Propaganda”!….I love it! I’m surprised you didn’t mention the accidental photo with Anthony Daniel’s naked hand in the story book. I had the later edition with the corrected photo, but my friend down the block had the earlier printing with the error photo…

  4. Always wanted that prototype Cantina and Patrol Dewback. As far as the Landspeeder box goes, I like to believe it wasn't a mistake with the Trooper holding Chewie's bowcaster, that it was Kenner's attempt to depict a Sandtrooper by giving him the longest gun available at the time. I know it's most likely a mistake but I like my version better.

  5. Look, it's like George said.
"Most of the trilogy was ser up from the start."

What about this Visor character? George, George?
    Where are you going?
Why are you climbing that try? Is that a tree fort?
    Can I come in?
    GEORGE SAYS: "NO GIRLS ALLOWED!!!!"

Well, at least we now know….., nothing more than before!?!

Oh George. Hope you are doing well. Happy life day 🙂

  6. I think what is going on is the photographers/artists who do these card photos and box art are given very brief or inaccurate descriptions of what's going on. Like originally maybe the trooper was gonna have that weapon and changed at the last minute. Or given a death star with no indication on which how it's supposed to work let alone what direction to go in. We also have to keep in mind there was a lot of pissed off kids who got only a box for Christmas 1977 with a paper promise to deliver the goods. So my guess is they looked at it like if it's close enough, then screw it get product out. I'm sure toy stores where pissed too and where breathing down their necks to hurry up as they where getting 100 calls a day from parents wondering where the hell thier kids toys where

  7. I'll also add other series had problems too which again I feel is false information and lack of communication. Like thundercats for example. In that line "Mu Mutt" is misnamed "Ravage" (???) On his first release. About 5 of the figures where seen in one episode once. Maybe 2-4 Topps. Whether or not they should have figures in exchange for a more prominent character is debatable. And catalogs have issues too- I saw one that had Lion O and mumm ra riding together in the thundertank! Another catalog showed shredder in the turtles sewer almost like he lived there too.

  8. 6:40 the Landspeeder is also a left-side driver vehicle, not a European right-side driver. Even from the movie scene, Ben Kenobi is shotgun on the right. Ben is depicted as the driver, on the Landspeeder box.

  9. I remember the Landspeeder box with the Trooper holding Chewie's blaster. And being massively confused by who the hell this Grand Vizier was Vader was talking to on the Star Destroyer??? The "vizier" was a piece of purple plastic that dropped down from the roof and I was convinced I'd missed a part of the film until I we t back onto see it and lo and behold, nothing!! It was years later that I read that the Vizier was going to be the one talking with Vader and we wouldn't have met the Emperor until Return Of The Jedi. I miss those days.

  10. Maybe they gave that Stormtrooper Chewie's bowcaster cos it was the largest gun of the original figure line, and the troops that stopped Luke & Kenobi in Mos Eisley were all toting them huge rifles and blaster cannons.

That looks like the kind of "make do with what you got" improvising that I did as a kid. Like before I got an actual Millennium Falcon, I dissembled my Death Star tower and arranged the levels in a makeshift Falcon layout ; the cannon seat was both cockpit and laser cannon silo, the trash chute hatch was the smuggling compartment, and the black middle level with the light bridge was a strained effort at the entry "gangplank". Needed a ton of suspended belief imagination to make that work, lol.
