  1. Really, really cool personal video. I do not play piano, but I am a working musician that is always in search of more theory knowledge. Your channel has helped me flesh out a few ideas that were foreign to me (I'm self-taught), so I appreciate that. Watching your videos are like mini college lectures that I never had the money to pay for! I thank you for that.

  2. It's so funny you were approached by Shen Yun/Falon Gong, glad you turned them down. Bizarre what crazy religious cult stuff western audiences will be willing to swallow if you frame it as "the Chinese Communists HATE this!!!".

  3. The land owner thing is lord of the manor. Which isn't the same as being in the house of Lords.
But yeah, you can't buy land or be a lord. Else, everyone would become a lord after they buy a house.

  4. Hi David,
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time! Maybe even since 2018!

You have always had such an easy-to-understand way of explaining even the most complex musical concepts. You are an amazing teacher with incredible experience and understanding of music! You have probably helped teach every one of your viewers with your steady and patient explanations, and the large amount of topics you have covered.

Thank you for all the work you do!

  5. Thanks David for taking the time to tell us about your career and your anecdotes! Your explanatory videos (especially about modes) really help me to understand a lot of things about my favourite songs (by the Beatles, of course), and I'm not the only one! 6. I've followed your current channel since its inception, and now have three of my grandsons – those most involved in music – and my youngest, band-member son, all subscribed. Two are in BC, one in Oz, and my son at Cambridge. Each having been or currently being cathedral choristers, as was I, we wondered whether your interest in music theory began the same way, as is the case with many British musicians.

  7. The hacking is such a big fear. It's so nerve-wracking to try and grow as a content creator and accept sponsorships and collaboration. SO glad you were able to recover everything without loss!

  8. Yeah I clicked phony links before and it’ll always say ‘failed to download.’ Or something like that. I always scramble to change my password whenever that happens.

And thank you for standing up to homophobes. I myself am nonbinary.

So cool to know all this about you. I don’t play guitar anymore but I have found a bunch more songs that sound similar. Such as ABBA Gimme Gimme Gimme vs the Kung Fu Panda opening song (similar vibes, not melody) and Todd Rundgren I saw the light vs a classical song (I forget what it was) and oasis She’s Electric & Shakermaker vs ‘I’d like to buy the world a coke’ Not to mention when Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys admitted to lifting Surfin USA from Chuck Berry’s Sweet Little Sixteen

  9. Wow you interviewed Victorious Sponge! Love those guys! I had a similar experience in uni where I interviewed Gareth from Goliath Guitar Tutorials and Pretty Good Gaming for a short documentary assignment.

  10. Don't download anything e-mailed to you. Go back to the source and obtain it yourself. Always scan.

Don't click e-mail links, no matter how authentic. Go back to your search engine and find the page.

Don't use the same password in multiple places. Use password managers or a robust formula to create unique and memorable passphrases.

Use 2FA, but don't depend on it. It can be hijacked.

  11. Oh gang… spat out my drink when seeing Shenyun suddenly show up out of nowhere, then spat it out a second time reminiscing your description of that group before bringing up its name. In the US they're kind of as unavoidable as pigeons in the city or gums on the street
