10 Things We Wish We Knew Before Starting The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom – TOTK gameplay

While #tearsofthekingdom is one of the most accessible Legend of Zelda games in the entire canon, there’s so much going on in the latest trip to Hyrule that it’s easy to miss a lot of the basics. Whether it’s an obscure menu option that makes your life a little easier, or an entire area full of loot that you just marched on past the first time, there’s always something about big, open world games that you wished you’d figured out earlier. We can’t claim to know everything about Tears of the Kingdom just yet, because there’s just so much of it and it’s full of weird systems that interact in strange and wonderful ways, but here are 10 things we wish we’d have known earlier that maybe you haven’t figured out yet #eurogamer

  1. I'm dozens of hours in & only just got to Rito Village, having already revealed most of the map above & below ground. As long as you've gone far enough to have the glider (which is essential), I've found it's possible to do most things that the game needs. Sometimes you do have to think laterally though, & keep plenty of elixirs & food handy. There's a limit to how many of those you can hold at once, as I learned yesterday..
Oh they're poop, not spunk. Will have to remember that vital distinction.
    9:43 What! Why?!
For running out of stamina mid-air, you can open your glider, once, for a split second (just long enough to slow your descent) even with zero stamina. Just time it right &, whatever you do, don't hit the attack button.

  2. A note about the light roots in the depths, they actually correlate to shrines in the overworld! So if you're trying to figure out where the lightroots are, they are always underneath a shrine!
And vice versa, if you're missing shrines but have found a lightroot in the depths where you haven't a shrine in the overworld, go there in the overworld!

  3. I missed Hetsu on the road but after I took care of Rito Village's blizzard problem and returned to lookout landing he was there. I have still not found the Korok Foresr.

  4. Very minor tip that a lot of people seem to have missed: you can break wooden crates by lifting them up in the air with ultrahand, then dropping them. This saves a little wear and tear on your weapons. Mostly useful in the early game, when your weapons are all crap and your weapon slots limited.

  5. I climbed a tree to get away from gloom hands 😂 I stood in the tree for at least a minute or two before they just went away and still dropped a couple clumps of whatever they drop

  6. I get legit chills every time Link is launched out of a Skyview Tower.
The traversal in this game is phenomenal.
Even without a maxed out stamina wheel, the gliders are just a joy to use.
Either by themself, with fans, or with rockets.
