We’re back again, hoping to “recapture the vibe” of our previous video by bringing you ten more delightfully retro, modern titles that really did a number on our nostalgia sensors. Games that, through the art, skill, and know-how of the developers, really managed to take us back to simpler times. Times when we’d nag our parents to buy us the latest games, instead of spending our own dwindling funds and having to exist on beans on toast for the rest of the month because we absolutely had to play Pokemon Scarlet on release. Here are 10 More Modern Titles That Perfectly Capture the Retro Vibe!

Shovel Knight seems reminiscent of Duck Tales NES. Scrooge had the pogo stick he could use to jump on enemies, get over tough platforms and uncover secrets.
Great list! First game that came to mind was Ion Fury. Was such a fun game to go through and reminded me so much of playing duke nukem when i was as kid.
Axiom Verge sucks
Yippee !!!
My buddy, Jerry, did the music for Project Warlock. 🙂
I don't want to be this person but turtles aren't amphibians they're amphibious they're still reptiles
the guy who did Bloodmoon didn't direct the original games that was Hitoshi Akamatsu the guy who did bloodmoon did the ps1 gamess
Shovel Knight is such a great game bought it in 2021 and made me feel like a kid again.
Jawless Tube Lady Is a great name for a band!
Still no Huntdow? Wow
So… Why is April O' Neil a playable character? I get that it's 2022, and equality and junk. But that isn't a reason.
Unmetal is so amazing and deserves more love
Turtles are reptiles, not amphibians.
She's the best thing in the game, but even that is soured by the unkept promises made by the developers.
Besides her, Bioshock infinite is not really a Bioshock game to me. The gameplay and exploration is just too different from 1 and 2, and too similar to FPSs of the time.
Great list!
Love TMNT!
The zoo in Knoxville TN definitely has some mutant looking animals running… around of course I'm talking about the people who go there not the ones in the cages haha
@TripleJump What's the music starting at 1:25 ? I've asked on discord a while ago to no avail… thanks!
My kids and I did enjoy TMNT Shredders Revenge, however, I couldn't help feeling that I'd just paid £20 for a SNES game in 2022.
Infernax deserves mention here
A fun, unique & stylized 3D adventure game with survival elements that's not on this list.
Outward Definitive Edition
Still sad that none of Locomalito's games were mentioned given the creators penchant for creating retro inspired titles. Castilla Maldita and Hydorah come to mind first, but even some of the creators lesser known titles fit the bill.
Five Nations is another game I can think of, being an old school RTS reminiscent of the original Starcraft.
Though I am glad Signalis got a mention. Such a wonderful title.
Is Hotline Miami a modern game? It's Eleven years old and it was on the 360 and PS3.
Dude I’ve played all of these indie games, and one of my all time favourite is TMNT Shredders Revenge.
Shredders revenge was so obvious it had to be the thumbnail
Pixel art is an annoying, unnecessary term. The less it's used(or not at all) the better.
1:23 Start. You guys keep babbling more and more before you start the content. Pls dont do that.
"Freedom Planet" is a game that is based heavily on the 16-bit Sonic games, considering the fact that it originally started as a Sonic fan game project before it was made into something new and original while still feeling like a Sonic game.
Aa
Man, i’ll turn 40 in August and don’t feel like quitting playing. I just find myself every month end reviewing games to buy
…Katana Zero!
Prodeus has no story, no cut scenes, no nothing. You gotta give me at least some story. I'm too old for just mindless killing. Too boring.
I was wondering if Prodeus would be on here. I thought it was fantastic.
