10 Forgotten Conflicts Involving the United States

Other than the more significant ones like the world wars, though, most people in and outside America have hardly heard of them, either because they happened a long time ago or due to their limited impact on global politics.

  1. Invasion of the south West modern United States 😑

We should remember South West ONCE BELONGED to Mexico 🇲🇽 when they declared their independence from Spain 🇪🇸

So Native Americans have an indefinite right to live there and Mexicans to – a small extent –
Considering we were the invaders and occupiers! 😅

Hell there are even US cities that still retain their Spanish names! 👇Alberquerque, Dallas,
Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco – etc

  2. Wow the coup in Guatemala is terrible, they literally threw it back into dictatorship and caused a civil war. I feel like this should be talked about more, Guatemala didn’t deserve such an egregious attack. The CIA is dirty AF.

  3. Marines remember Grenada.
"We have two companies of Marines running rampant all over the northern half of this island, and three Army regiments pinned down in the southwestern corner, doing nothing. What the hell is going on?"
–Gen. John W. Vessey Jr., USA, Chairman of the the Joint Chiefs of Staff; during the assault on Grenada, 1983

    Marines remember the Barbary Wars
    "To the shores of Tripoli"
    –USMC Hymn

Marines remember the Boxer Rebellion and the Invasion of Hati. Where do you think Dan Daley got his medals of honor? Or Smedley Butler?

  4. I'm surprised the intervention in Russia after World War 1 isn't mentioned. The western allies took Murmansk and Archangle in European Russia and the Americans and Japanese took Vladivostok in the Far East.

  5. No idea where you got your information on Grenada. The US sent over 10,000 military, including an entire aircraft carrier task force. Grenada had no army, just cops and untrained militia. The only ones on the island with military training were Cuban engineers sent to build an airport for tourism.

Even so it took the US eight days to conquer an enemy they greatly outnumbered and outgunned. It became infamous for SNAFUs like bombing a hospital filled with mental patients, and a Marine unable to order ground support fire so he had to call his wife back in the states and have her call the base. Seriously.

In the US 50,000 people marched in DC vs the invasion and there was an attempted impeachment of Reagan. Even British PM Thatcher opposed the invasion.

  6. One of the reasons the Filipino-American War is forgotten is shame. We used the Filipino rebels to help defeat the Spanish and then turned them, into a colony for fifty years. We lost a lot more people there than we did fighting the Spanish.

  7. I knew about all of these except the 1871 Korean Conflict. I grew up in Kansas & the 20th Kansas Volunteer Regiment of Infantry was part of the 1899 US-Philippine War, so I'm very familiar with that one.

  8. Fun fact about the invasion of Grenada: The communist government still recognised Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state. Many of the countries that took part in the invasion of Grenada were also realms of Queen Elizabeth II. So the Queen went to war with herself.
