In this video we go through 10 defunct rides in Blackpool Pleasure Beach. This is one of the oldest and most well known theme parks and amusement parks in the UK, so it’s no surprise that many rides have been lost along the way. From some recent closures like Wild Mouse to older closures like Drench Falls Log Flume, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has changed a lot over the years. There are some walkthroughs like Trauma Towers and Noahs Ark and also some dark rides like Magic Mountain and Gold Mine that are no longer in the park and just part of Blackpool Pleasure Beach history.
Some other flats rides like The Whip, Black Hole and Turtle Chase are all now gone too to make room for newer attractions. And while the monorail track is still there, it’s no longer operating. We hope you enjoy this trip through Blackpool’s attraction graveyard!

How many of these Blackpool Pleasure Beach defunct attractions have you been on? 🎢
I think the monorail will return, since some parts of it are still there
I remember getting bruised and battered on the wild mouse. Fond times.
Great video!
I'm from Northern Ireland, but went to Blackpool with my Dad pretty much every other year from the age of 10 until well into my 30's! I have been on "Gold Mine", "Monorail", "Log Fume", "Wild Mouse (AKA The Back breaker)", "Trauma Towers" and The "Black Hole". First visited in 1994, any rides before this, I wouldn't have been on. I remember Trauma Towers was a good laugh, some things unsuitable for kids though! Also remember, just across from Trauma Towers, was something called "Ghost Swing" or "Magic Swing". Basically a room that moved around you, giving the idea that you were spinning upside down! It was pretty class though. Loved the old Blackpool Pleasure beach more to be honest, can't beat the classics!!
What about the Alice in wonderland ride
What is Planet Rock? I've never seen it open
I want to see another tone of those wild noises because I loved thaf
The whip was wicked but not as good as the skid
Why r parks ditching their log flumes ??
I'm surprised Space Invader didn't make this list! it was one of the biggies.
sorry but i dont want to know what the rides past vis or when it was made i just want to see it
I get it that rides have a lifespan and don't last forever. But, I don't like when irreplaceable custom made indoor rides like haunted rides reach their end, and the artist that made them is six feet under. That happened in the US where old dark rides burned down or were torn down by the park and the artists who made them are six feet under. And the park replaces them with nothing or a dumb fast thrill ride. Generations of future visitors will never know these unique custom attractions that were closed or altered. And why sometimes do indoor rides have to be rethemed to a licensed property to appeal to kids or something? Like the Mine at Blackpool or the Old Mill at Kennywood which was Garfield's Nightmare from 2004 but returned to an old mill theme with new scenes last year.
Wild Mouse was such an awesome ride, i was looking forward to that ride in june this year after 30yrs, such a shame as it was going to be a trip down memory lane in bpool…
I remember ALL of these amd have been on the lot. The turtle chase , whip and mjni-whip were cool. By gone era…gone bye bye
Not sure what is was called but I remember a ride with huckleberry Finn, on a raft like boat on water
Loved the gold mine when I was a little lad.
Getting rid of Noah's Ark is almost criminal. Absolutely everyone loved it. I realise the technical parts were costing a fortune to maintain, but to lose such a wonderful, historic attraction, is shocking.
I still miss Noah's Ark 😢
l love my Trauma Towers bench and other bits of defunct rides I've bought over the years, keeping it alive
Not forgetting the cable cars . And torcedo express. Uncle tombs cabin, the space invader, the fun house. And the water chute.
I believe the whip was closed because some people were flung off the side when it whipped out. My mum was telling me about it because she got there like half an hour afterwards, and she saw medics and ambulances everywhere.
The Fun House with the Monorail running through the back of it…not a ride, but I remember the Laughing clown in his glass case…creepy! X
Space Invader was one of my favourite rides. Was so sad then they closed it.
Theme parks are replacing entertaining rides and attractions with thrilling rides. I think this takes away atmosphere. I used to love walking round the parks smaller attractions and stalls for free as suffering at heights i could only manage the railway, boats etc. whilst enjoying candyfloss on a stick, also lost these days.
Loved the gold mine and the log flume when I was a kid! Great video this, bringing loads of memories back!
Trauma towers definitely.
Wtf.. black hole was not a water ride!!! Its was a flipping waltzer! In the dark there is nothing like it today. Best ride that has gone was by far fun house. To the ass that set it on fire shame on u if ya still alive!
I rode magic mountain and I rode gold mine and I rode the monorail and I rode the wild mouse
2:55 my family got stuck on the monorail and had to be helped off we had just passed the gold mine and got stuck around the nickolodian lane
Why did black pool close so many classics in 2008
Tokaydo express.,.
Pure nostalgia. That was part of the appeal for me but, granted, not the majority of fee paying guests.
The Whip was always disappointing. Black Hole was not good as nobody was there to spin the cars. The Ranger (1985), Tidal Wave and Wild Mouse was the best. Steeplechase still scares me to death 👍
The wild mouse was a great ride if you had a girl in the front. The big one however takes some beating still.250 foot at the top its half the height of the Tower but a superb piece of engineering. There was a Big Swing on the south pier I also went on which was mad.
Who remembers the Hard Luck Bears show? Proper throwback from the early 80s
Drench falls was defunct the moment valhalla opened
