Hi Tristan. Shogun, Wolf Hall (the entire trilogy, actually) and All the Light We Cannot See are on my TBR. Thank you for reminding me to get on with them. I highly recommend The Kite Runner. It moved me to tears. A must-read. And the movie is good too. Hosseiniβs other book A Thousand Splendid Suns is even better.
Glass palace! Such a fantastic epic. But wolf hall is one of the best books Iβve ever read. Absolute must read.
I'd recommend either "Kite Runner" or "All the Light We Cannot See".
The Kite Runner – qualifies as a modern classic in my opinion.
i read it years ago when i was in high school.
the story itself is not easy but it is well written and important.
back then I remember thinking i've never read anything like this before.
All the Light We Cannot See – as a jewish woman who has been exposed to many stories and testimonies about the holocaust I have to admit that at some point all the fictional stories starts to sound the same and as I have access to testimonies I usually prefer them, however it was still very well written and to someone whe's not jewish might be even more intriguing.
Anyway, whatever book you choose i hope you'll enjoy it.
I have read the Kite Runner and All the Light we Can not See. I think Winter in Madrid sounds most interesting.
Shogun, please ! Thank you so much, Tristan for this amazing review β€
1) White Tiger
2) All the Light We Cannot See
3) The Kite Runner
I remember watching Shogun when I was a child but have never read the book. I was a little bored but I was only 11 or 12 years old. My parents seemed to like it. I vote you read Shogun.
Good choices!! I vote for All the Light We Cannot See! π
Wolf Hall and the Good doctor please
Kite. Runner
The White Tiger because it is brilliant and written by an Australian.
I read only 2 of these books, Shogun and All the Light You Cannot See, I liked Shogun more, but it is written to be exoctic on purpose, probably a more realistic take from that period would be Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa
I enjoyed Doerr's Cloud Cuckoo Land more, but I would choose All The Light We Cannot See. However, I am also intrigued by Shogun…
I vote for All the Light We Cannot See, because I'm dying to hear your thoughts on how it's written, whether or not you think it's destined to be a classic, and if you think it worthy of the Pulitzer. I read it recently, & the opinions are all over the place & fascinating! Couldn't more highly recommend Wolf Hall. It's one of the few modern books that felt like a classic to me. It's just a masterpiece. The Kite Runner has staying power like few books I've read, and still haunts me! (I love these videos. My TBR keeps getting longer! π Thank you!
Too many books, too little time.
What a great list. My vote goes to: All the light we cannot see.
The Kite Runner- a memorable read!
Iβd like: 1)Winter in Madrid, 2) Restoration and 3)The Golden Hill
I vote for the Kite Runner if itβs not too late π
All the light we cannot see, a must read
This choice is very easy, it has to be Shogun. This is one of the best novels of all time in my opinion.
All the Light We Cannot See or The Good Doctor. Have seen the first beautifully and intriguingly televised; the second just sounds fascinating.
Kite Runner and All the Light We Cannot are the only two I've read from this selection and both were excellent. You can't go wrong with e either is this. Now I need to read Shogun!
Read Shogun in the seventies, great one, read Wolf Hall, Restoraton and Kite Runner enjoyed them. I vote for All The Light We Cannot See because the Anthony Doer has been in my stack a long time too.
I vote for The Glass Palace
I love this new channel Tristan- and your introduction makes me want to read all of these books! I absolutely loved Wolf Hall but my vote is going for All the Light as I too have this in my TBR pile.
I'm still trying to finish the second book from your classic patron group but I cheated a little and watched your recent review, even though I'm only half way through, and it has spurred me on to try to finish it this week. If only I could drop the day job!!!!! Super video as always and much appreciated.
Having read both I'd rate Shogun vastly superior to Wolf Hall.
