Video games have offered up some amazing cities over the years. From vibrant, futuristic metropolises to dingy, backwater burgs, these places can act as safe havens, or could be more dangerous than the wilderness that surrounds them, and for this video, weโ€™ve decided to celebrate some of the best. From Mass Effectโ€™s Citadel to Baldurโ€™s Gate here are the 10 Coolest Cities in Video Games.

  1. I'm currently replaying BGEE and have just arrived in Baldur's Gate, so nice to see that here.
However, my main takeaway from this video is of several other games on my backlog I really need to get back to.

  2. Kingdoms are probably considered different than cities, and will most likely get their own list. (Although Triple Jump may have done it already. If so, thanks in advance!) That being said, I would have suggested Zeal from "Chrono Trigger," except that it's technically a kingdom, and not a city.

  3. Dreadful list.
    No Los Santos (GTA V)
No Vice City ( one of the OGโ€™s)
    No The Ascent
No Paradise City ( Burnout Paradise)
    No Crackdown
    No Midnight Club LA
    No Sleeping Dogs
    The list gone on.
This was just a list of RPG games

  4. Sumaru City from Persona 2. Just a wild city where just about anything seems to be able to happen, and thats before rumors start to become real.

There is also The City from Project Moon's various games which perhaps takes the cake as the city you absolutley don't want to live in.

  5. Man most of the cities on this list are shit. What happened to Vice City, Green Hills Zone, The City (Street of Rage), all the classics. It seems that this list is restricted to more recent games. Hardly the coolest ever considering the majority of them were dark.

  6. 5 cities that come to my mind:
Luca – Final Fantasy X: The only technologically advanced safe place in the world that isn't ruled by corruption, giant Blitzball stadium, giant music and arts theatre. Alternatively, Guadosalam once certain politicians are no longer involved. The city's not great, but it has a literal doorway to the closest thing the world has to seeing your loved ones in heaven.
Driftveil City – Pokemon Black 2/White 2: Live Pokemon battles from competitors all over the world. A Pokemon gym. Local historic ruins. One road away from a city that's exclusively the best parts of Manhattan (Nimbasa). One road away from a special magnetic cave that's practically a world wonder (Chargestone). One of the most beloved city theme music tracks in the entire series.
Waral – Shining Force: An atoll of livable islands that also has a mermaid city below that, and a historic glowing cave of mysteries below that. And the king is fun and has a sense of humor.
Any amusement themed zone – Sonic the Hedgehog: Take your pick of Aquarium Park, Toy Kingdom, Music Plant, Eggmanland, any of the casino zones… If you can pus aside the logistical and ethical issues of Eggman getting his way, it's nonstop fun (mostly for him). Alternatively, Angel Island has Carnival Night zone, but also Hydro City, Marble Gardens, etc.
Literally anywhere – Wipeout/F-Zero: Futuristic cities with anti-gravity racing league tracks built into them. Some of which are on the moon or other planets.

  7. I wish there were at least one city from the Xenoblade series on the list… My vote is for Alcamoth, with its breathtaking vistas (specially during nights with shooting stars) and the fact it [[spoiler]], making it truly unforgettable.
