Ninja Gaiden 1-3 for the NES are easily the best ninja games. Really liked Ghost of Tsushima as well.
Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro should be 1 and 2 respectively. And I'd argue Ghost being 1 should be an objective fact.
Finally some Onimusha love! Give us a new one m. Or I’d settle for more remasters or even a remake. Disappointed to see no Tenchu.. this is “of all time” after all. So even if the more recent tenchus weren’t great shouldn’t matter.
NO TENCHU?!
JUUUUUULLLEEEEEEESZZZZ
If from software made another tenchu!! That’d be dope
Disappointed by lack of Shadow Tacticts on the list. List is invalid.
Ummmm…..Just one clarification, Sekiroo???
Trek To Yomi?
While I’ll accept Tenchu not being on because Aragami is a spiritual successor that actually is better, I am surprised the 1 ninja game that got us all into ninjas in the 1st place didn’t make the list… teenage mutant ninja turtles!
Sorry, no. Samurai Warriors 5 provides a fraction of what 4 provides, and the execution is also underwhelming in comparison to 4.
As a long-time fan of the Warriors games, SW5 is insulting, especially following the superb SW4, which is far and away the best in the franchise.
With SW4, they effectively said, "Here is the pinnacle of the franchise, with everything you've asked for and more."
With SW5, they effectively said, "Here's half the characters, one third of the movesets, most of which are boring; forty percent of the story, missing fan-favorite characters, and we've removed character creation, but see the shiny new paint job!"
Samurai Warriors 5 is utter trash.
Nioh 2 is one of my favourite games of all time. No other definitions required
If you have never heard of Tenchu, love stealthy ninja games, then please play the first one or Wrath of Heaven!!! Tenchu 2: Birth of Assassins is alright but definitely not one of my favorites. Me and my father bonded over these games and others. If it wasn't for him, I might have missed out.
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins deserves not only to be on the list but also as a top spot.
Dang it, we need a new Ninja Gaiden. It doesn't even have to be Ninja Gaiden, just so long as you're a deadly and deadly-quick ninja and your enemies are also so fast and vicious that the game is brutally hard but jaw-droppingly beautiful when you get it right. Oh, and it's 'die-me-oh' not 'dynamo'.
Teach z was incredible
I know it's retro nevertheless Revenge of Shinobi,Shadow Dancer & Shinobi Return of the Ninja Master has to be in this list to this day all 3 games Master Pieces no conversation about ninjas can be had without mentioning the GrandMaster of Ninja Action….
So when mentioning Mark the ninja, they mention Don’t Starve but not the Shank series which is what Mark of the Ninja looks like as they use the same art style.
The failed ninja assassination cutscenes in Total War 2 are hilarious. A surprising bit of comedy in an otherwise serious game.
Assassins Creed is about to become a part of this list
hopefully
Always here for mark of the ninja love
So…no Shinobi or Strider. I'll even forgive no Wo Long, but leave out Sega and Capcom classics show have zero respect for great games. Revenge of Shinobi has you facing Spider-Man and Batman (and Godzilla).
Oh and honorable mention…Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Heroes in a half shell, turtle power!!!
Doesn't matter if tenchu hasn't released a decent game in over 10 years, and no fucking way is arigami a spiritual successor of tenchu, you could of easily put wrath of heaven in its place since it's "of all time" sekiro is the spiritual successor of tenchu.
I really like you Jules but you dropped the ball hard on this one
Knew this list was crap when he put Sekiro 10th
Wo Long should be in this list
dont care what happened before or after, Tenchu 2 still holds up in all elements beside maybe graphics. Tenchu 2 has everything youd want from music, satisfying stealth kills, 3 separate but mostly interweaving campaigns, some story elements that stand above the basic premise, gadgets, and good characters and will always be a favorite of mine that made me keep my old ps2 just for replaying.
You actually leave out Samurai Shodown/Samurai Spirits and yet your channel name is "whatculturegaming"!?? Please
There's also Shadows Tactics: Blade of The Shoguns, a stealth game in the style of "Commandos". Please do more research about these videos b4 putting them out, just pls 😐
Tenchu is the first game that pop out in my mind if talks about Ninja theme games.
I was hoping they would include the Onimusha video games. Loved the 2nd and the 3rd, first not so much.
While I agree with #1, Sekiro, Ninja Gaiden, Ghost of Tsushima, and Tenchu (specifically part 2) are 2-5 (not necessarily in that order, even Nioh 2).
I love Mark of the Ninja and Aragami, and Dynasty Warriors can be fun, but…they're not better than those.
