10 Best Games Of 2012

2012 was the year that, according to the Mayan calendar, the world was supposed to end, but it came and went with nary an apocalyptic event in sight. What we did get, however, were loads and loads of fantastic video games, and so we’re back again to tell you all about the absolute finest. Before we get into it, we must go over the rules. A game can qualify for one of these Best of X Year lists if it was released in the 12-month period in question in at least one territory, and received a minimum of seven professional reviews. Here are the 10 Best Games of 2012.

  2. Didn’t you break your rules with Xenoblade? I‘m pretty sure the game got more than enough reviews when it was launched first and was only re- released in 2012.

  3. Really enjoy these lists. My favorite here is Persona 4 Golden, although I didn’t get to play it until this year. Another favorite game of mine from 2012 was Far Cry 3. It got me hooked on the series.

  4. Concerning Okami HD: I still remember the beginning of the Fazit of the N-Zone Test:
"Okami is the best Zelda Game that Nintendo never made!"

I still have to invoke my inner Issun though and inform you solar mutts that Okami HD shouldn't be here as the difference to the SD Version is rather marginal.

  5. It's good to see some ME3 love! Yes, the original ending was abhorrent, but I think the extended ending, plus the Leviathan and especially the Javik DLC really help bring the whole game together. It also has the best gameplay out of the three games in the trilogy, and many of the decisions (other than the ending) truly mattered.

  6. Totally agree about Mass Effect 3. It was a fantastic 30+ hours journey. I laughed, cried and cheered. Yes the ending is… disappointing… but the other 99% of the game is superb.
