Honesty i couldn't be happier with this game, finally a great RTS that i can enjoy, runs smooth, no bugs, long single player, rebalanced from the ground. Its a 10/10 for me
I swear they went a tad overboard with the difficulty and I LOVE IT
My tip after beating it on titan difficulty is every mission is either a rush and wipe everything with spawn units or just hold stuff off while you boom an economy and just auto queue reinforcements wherever objective is. Folstag mission is easy if you attack early and don’t let them build a base(have to manually not target the titan) Egypt was the only campaign that was kinda rough. Also never thought about cheesing ways close with dwarf gold but Gia forest saved me some time for sure😂
For "Welcome Back", I actually found another silly strategy. There's a little peninsula in the southern parts of the map that is completely isolated from the rest of the map,and there's enough space to build a few Plenty Vaults, so you can slowly trickle in infinite amounts of money. I personally also built a temple there to also have Favor income. Then once I felt I had enough stuff, I just proceeded to land forces on the mainland and blast through everything. Sure you don't need to take that long, but it's a fun chill experience.
Mission 18 was way harder for me than any other so far, wth
Tip No 1: Install the Original Voice mod
WHAT
There's village centers now‽
I'm starting the Norse campaign and I didn't even notice!!
Guys, I need some help here. I've been throwing myself at that stupid Tamarisk mission for over an hour. Already my least favorite mission in the original, I just feel like they dialed the difficulty up to the eleven. I'm playing on Medium, and I barely have enough time to throw up a Migdol before Gargarensis shows up with Scarabs and Siege Towers. My economy just can't keep up with the mummy attacks plus enemy harrassment. I don't seem to have the time or ressources to keep up with it all. Is there any hidden baby strats or tips you got for me, or should I just switch to Easy?
i still think the best way to theoretically fix "Betrayal at Sikyos" is if you played it as a Greek base instead of a Egyptian one, since Greeks are the one faction that can't have mass hero units, so an endless tide of myth units may be more interesting to deal with, also it could be used as another chance to play as Hades who has good defense focused options if I remember correctly.
I'm already through the campaign, but your video is super funny 😀
34:00 in my experience, the vault to the east is easier to get to, since the defenses and units there are more spread out. But you need to keep two or more standing armies to both assault that base and defend your own.
Also, build a market in the far end of your south base and trade with the Egyptian base and later your own.
43:00 you actually don't need to vortex at all. The final valley is also connected at the south end of the second valley.
47:00 you don't actually need priests defending the caravans here. Your allied town will send some wadjets and other units to attack enemies that come too near their base, and combined with your walls and towers and strongholds they can hold off anything.
48:00 maybe this will get fixed, but this mission is one of the easiest in the game. If you use the freeze godpower on the enemy's starting units (huskarls) and then send your starting forces to kill them, the enemy can't build a base. Then you can use the healing spring godpower and your heroes to hold the titan in permanent check for the rest of the mission. You can also spam godir and firegiants to kill him before nidhogg arrives.
Love how Sobek got his due 😀
It's worth noting that you don't actually have to use vortex to get to the final area, you can explore around and there's another little defensive position that you can fight through to walk over.
IT’S FINALLY HERE!
here is my tip for mission 9 of the atlantean campaign if you wanna cheese it, totally works on titan too:
First you want to use frost on the town center the enemy is building and then you
RUSH THE TITAN
By which I mean rush in with your heroes and frost giants and whatever forces you can muster, freeze the titan with folstag and kill the units that acompany him while he is frozen, you might need to distract him with folstag for a bit but he is tanky. The titan player starts with no base, so once you kill the infantry units with him and very easily beatable by kiting him aroun and damaging him during freeze. The only time you theoratically under threat is when the second group of infantry spawns , but again should be no problem as you can kill them with the free giants alone.
❤
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT SAY THAT ANY OF THESE "EXPLOITS" SHOULD BE PATCHED.
As someone who beat the campaigns on Titan, you absolutely NEED to use some of these strats or you are cooked. The sheer amount of units and resources that the enemy AI has and their aggression is unreal, and some missions (Like where you are trying to break the gang out of that prison island) are straight up impossible without using some type of cheesy mechanic or strategy.
Protip on mission 18: There is a building you're probably neglecting. You probably also have too much gold and not enough other stuff.
Also you don't need to shelter your villagers under a TC.
I actually could have used this for 32. a few days ago lmao but managed beating it on Hard via a 12 old vid lmao. Def will use this video on the mission I want to do on Hard!
Atlantean 9 (48:04): In Moderate Difficulty what I did was immediately cast frost on enemy army than send all my units except my Ulfsarks/Berserks to attack the army once frost ends. I wiped out the attacking forces with my units, surrounded the Titan with my heroes, and placed my Healing Fountain where all four were hit to keep them topped off. The Titan won't be able to move because he always target the nearest enemy. At some point, he spawned more units, so I needed to build up enough of a force to counter them, but my heroes were able to tank it for a bit as long as I micro-managed them. When I got enough Favor, I placed down more Fountains—three were enough to ensure no one died. I then built more towers in case he started to spawn more and once I reached Heroic age I placed a Great hall nearby to spam out Godi to kill the Titan.
Don't Listen to Him, Rampage was super broken in the Original game. Literally doesn't matter what difficulty you are on. Its the Easiest mission in the game. Forget everything he told you. Since the Enemy doesn't start with a base. Rush it with your Heroes, Freeze the Titan and kill the enemy Scouts before they can build a Town Center. Because Norse can not build without them. You just won, have your Heroes camp the Settlement just in case and play ring around the Rosie with the Titan in till the stupid Dragon shows up. Literally don't even need to buy a unit. I would be surprised if they fix this in Retold. In fact, Rushing the Enemy base with Heroes before they can build an econ works on a lot of these missions the Norse more then most
The Titan difficulty is brutal. The dwarven forge was me at a stalemate trying to get to the forge itself for over two hours cause I couldnt kill/push fast enough running ONLY heroes & myth units. The recruit rate was disgusting. some of these levels need rebalancing to at least be possible :/
Okay – aom is one of my favorite games ever and I’ve played the OG campaign maybe 20 times. I did this campaign for retold on hard and I am currently at “all is not lost” mission 30… I agree that it is definitely the hardest and waaaaay more difficult than OG. I also noticed for “jackals stronghold” that I had to go in with a naval force of over 25 ships to actually clear off their beaches. Also the mission after that, “long way from home” was the only other one besides “all is not lost” that I couldn’t beat on hard
But where is the LONG version!!?
for war of titans, you can also you the tree growing god power to block one of the gaia trees, which will make it impossible for kronos to destroy it. i do it for the top right gaia tree. it is already mostly surrounded with trees just 1/4 direction remaining clear. fill it up with trees and just afk until gaia spawns
For mission 16 the most useful trick is to just immediatly use earthquake next to the Wonder to destroy a bunch of houses and military buildings, that make the attacks from the enemy way less strong.
29:49 where is Chiron? where did you put him?
Light sleeper was the first mission i had to restart (2 times) One at the start like 10 anubis plus a pretty big foot army there and later when my base got overrun avengers are pretty strong…
How long until "Can You Beat Age of Mythology: Retold Without Losing a Unit?"
