1 police officer killed, 1 injured in South Austin shooting; 2 civilians and suspect also dead



An Austin police officer has died and another is injured after a shooting on Bernoulli Drive in South Austin early Saturday morning. Two civilians are also dead, as is the suspect, according to Mayor Kirk Watson’s chief of staff.

  1. Based on the 911 call, there was one suspect in one house. The police killed the suspect at the house. Why did they have residents "evacuate" to the elementary school? Was there some reason to think there were other suspects? If there are 10 cop cars at the scene (per the reporter), that is a lot of resources for an event that is over. It looks like a pretty normal neighborhood, but it is definitely surrounded by some bad stuff.
