I've been driving a (sotra) large box truck for 14 years. only had 1 accident when someone made a sudden left turn in front of me (I'm going west she was going east). I've started allowing the knuckleheads to "do their thing" and not slowing down or moving over unless I absolutely have to. I frequently carry pallets of lead acid batteries so I try to keep my distance but at least once a day someone decides it's OK to fill in the open space. people in small cars have no idea what might be in these trucks yet they think we can stop in the same distance as a Civic.
I think the center of gravity in the trucks is too high, if anything happens the center gravity hits cars very high above the belt- line of the car which is very weak, and someone dies every time. That is enough!
Meanwhile the offending Mazda driver is alive. Never swerve due to driver ahead of you…hit the car. It's hard bc instinct tells you to move out of the way. Also i tend to not be on the outside lane of a curve next to a top heavy truck, truck carrying a load etc just in case.
Everybody is all over the trucker for swerving, then bashing all the truckers of today, and how everybody's daddies' all taught them to stay on the beam, but if you actually listen, the cops told the reporter than the Mazda MAY have caused the truck to swerve. Hey, cranky youtube know it alls, if a Mazda sedan hits the right front wheel of a semi just right, don't you think there's a possibility that the tractor could swerve without any input from the driver? That's far more likely than a heavy equipment hauler swerving his vehicle, knowing that the vehicle can't take that kind of maneuver. Y'all spend too much time looking for things to bitch about, and not enough time thinking. You sound like a bunch of old ladies.
The substandard materials from China that are the tie downs to hold them heavy machinery onto the trailer must have failed. Anything from China is usually not as strong as the look-alike product it mimics that was manufactured 30 years ago. Vintage anything is better than brand new today.
not a trucker but have friends and family that are. honestly i feel sorry for truckers because they get the raw deal for most stuff. tickets cost them more than for other people even if they're home and driving a car. i remember when a driver of a car fell asleep and drove under a fuel tanker and they blamed the trucker even though the car driver admitted it was his fault but his insurance wouldn't pay enough to have the bridge checked out so they tagged the trucker by the time it was proven it wasn't the truckers fault the insurance already lost the money to the state for checking the bridge. truckers would be willing to pay a little extra to drive on a interstate that only 18 wheelers can drive on. i see to many idiots cut in front of truckers and if the idiots looked in their rearview mirror they wouldn't even be able to see the truckers windows.
Being in a hurry is the cause of most accidents, imo. After watching many, many dashcam videos, that is what I see that usually happens. The truck driver may not have swerved to miss the car. The car could have caused the truck to swerve and hit the center barrier. Several years back, a guy ran a stop sign, hit an 18 wheeler causing him to "swerve" and go through a small cafe, killing 3 people.
I've always wondered why the authorities allow all of these "over size load" transport details to run 75 – 80 mph!! What gives man?! Long gone are the days of Big Rigs lumbering along gingerly and safely to their destination. We see little to none traffic enforcement ever. Until it's too late. Then it's a spectacle of a light show.
People don’t care about truck drivers they think they can stop on a dime and make no errors people need to be more aware
What was the equipment tied down with? Shoelaces?
Is that Mike sharps truck?
RIP

Terrible
The unexpected, a load coming off its carrier, at freeway driving speed. The Mustang's driver had no chance, Mercy ! .
They will use this as a reason to increase insurance to the $5,000,000.00 minimum liability that them politicians are pushing for.

How stupid
Typical 4 wheeler causing problems on the interstate
