This is why I'm pretty sure if there wasn't so much voter suppression and gerrymandering in Southern states our current politics would look ALOT different
Question: How are these numbers determined? Is there same kind of registration of race?
As a non-American it’s interesting how only in the USA that there are stats on black, white, Hispanic and Native Americans. I mean, I could be wrong, but I don’t know of any other country that does that to their residents.
I recently was in hospital and 2 of the nurses that were assigned to me, one was from Zimbabwe and the other from South Africa. I only know this because they both had an accent and because I was genuinely interested I asked them, but because the nurse from South Africa migrated to New Zealand first she is registered as migrating from New Zealand to Australia. The only people that get “registered” are new migrants and that’s only because they have a VISA registration. Their children born here are Australian. That’s it!
So it’s always surprising to hear this from the USA. The narrative needs to change. It doesn’t mean that the history is removed.
