Wouldn’t it make sense for it to be the skeleton of a dwarf. If he had captured one he could have interrogated him since they’re known to make the gods’ weapons. They could give up info like their location or how to make a weapon that would kill one.

@newrockstars Another thing to think about is that Thor is actually supposed to be huge in comparison to humans too. That is why he looked at the others and said you guys are so tiny. We just don’t have anyone tall enough to portray the part of a giant humanoid being. So that should put things into the proper perspective. If Thor is massive then what is the true size of that skeleton?
