See that blushing at Sun scene was more evidence alone than bb got for like, 5 volumes straight. The whole "Planned from the start" thing is such a farce lmao
Love the long talk about Blake not trusting Yang after the Mercury leg break, that's one of the scenes I actively use for my freezerburn head cannon. Not only is it a bit of a violation of trust on Yang's end, but Weiss instantly believes Yang, and even further defends her from Blake.
Guys, I think RT has already taken Part 1 down….

The Bumblebee ship has so many problems to it that it is not funny at all with how terrible and even horrific it is amd how it cause so much damage. And even argue that it also help or even kill the show as well It was clear that it was never planned at all. Also it doesn't help that Sun and Blake and there relationship which is not only make more sense but it much more healthy, make sense chemistry and so much more. It makes no sense for bumblebee to exist, especially with how everything we know of the characters. For example Blake does not believe yang and conpare her to adam who kill innocent of people like what a terrible friend blake is and Yang would let be honest would not forgive her or be with her. People argue about the whole adam scene with blake and yang arm as evidence but it not romantic because it yang trying to protect her friend, she would have done if it was weiss, and especially Ruby. ( Which I think yang would have gone ballistic if that was ruby getting hurt by adam) but even before than they would at best just friends and not good friends.
It especially makes no sense giving what happen later on with 6, 7 and especially 8 and 9. Like yang should not act this way to blake at all and should either be annoyed at her, angry,or do not want to deal with her. Like everything about this ship, the force ship scenes, "the romance"( which it isn't it all terrible, it all cringe, it all does not make any sense, also it would be better if it was some one else. It why many peoplehate this ship. Also not to mention yang does not have chemistry with blake at all I mean at best there relationship are just friends and not even very close of good friends. She has better chemistry with weiss, she has better chemistry with nora, she has better chemistry ren, she has better chemistry with Ruby. Like none of it make any sense and it goes against there characters and so much more. Why would yang ever have feelings for blake and confess with her even though she never once show interest in women and especially blake. Why would blake ever have feelings for yang when she never shown interest in her especially when she has clearly have feelings for sun.
But also those bb scenes makes no sense and actually does damage to the characters or make them act out of nowhere. like why isn't blake going with ruby to the election to talk about the faunus, why isn't ruby the one tackling yang when they reunite, why yang make a comment to blake hair ( whiich is incredibly cringe and awful) but not the others, why isn't yang the one more focus of ruby and somehow more worried and concerned for blake of all people that makes zero sense and help ruin her character.
The writers cares more about this stupid ahip than the team act like well sisters to one another and let's be honest that ship should not have happen and there relationship should just be friends and that it. This ship caused more damage to the show and it beyond infuriating and insulting. Also do not get me started on the bridge scene which not it makes no sense but everything about is god awful.
I said this before and someone told me about this but it you take all of those bb scenes and you take blake out and swap with Ruby with yang it actually would make more sense and it would be more impactful if you make about them and there relationship and how close they are to one another. Yang taking ruby to party to help her relax and get her safe and spend time with her during the election. Yang is very worried about ruby when jaune talks about her and fear something might happen to her to where she might have a panic attack. Them reunited take blake out and put ruby in and it make more sense it an extended scene of them hug. Ruby screaming yang name and try to go after and breakdown when she fall. Ruby tackling yang, when they reunite heck you can have that scenebe emotional where yang is cryingand hugging becauseshe thought she not gonna she her.
, yang keeping a very closed eye on her and try to comfort her throughout of 9 because she knows something is wrong and try to help her. You could have her make jokes and ruby laught to cheer her up.
ruby tried to do the same with yang by helping her also. take out blake blushing because why would she blush and put yang gushing how cute ruby of the time they were small and ruby get embarrassed, yang making jokes for ruby to make her laugh, ruby promises yang to help find her arm ans would not make a joke about it and instead comfort her and hold her hand ans yang is happy about being with ruby instead of that cringe "flirting" i do not know what that is.
The bridge should be ruby and yang. Not blake and yang, and if was them I would not make it romantic at all heck it should either yang being angry at blake telling her she does not forgive her and argues to her and she leaves to ruby where she comfort her. Because I know people try to "fix" this scene but it doesn't work at all because it was a beyond failure or yang figure out abit traumatize she leaves blake try to stop her but she escape and just be with ruby and ruby comfort her and yang tell ruby she loves her. Maybe blake be a sorta of antagonist to ruby but she is abit crazy with the realm, the cat, the tree ans such.
The bridge should be with ruby ans yang and it yang trying to get to ruby but ruby cant because she scared and feels like a failure and would better to be dead than alive. This wouldn't be Yang try to comfort ruby. Ruby feels like she fail everyone even yang and all she does it make things worst and worst for her and she believe she a burden to yang and and she hate her. Yang argue against this and she doesn't hate her, when she left it hurt yang alot because unlike Blake ruby was someone important to yang. She feel this this great connection with her. Yang feel like a fauile for not protecting ruby and that she feels this way. They would talk try to comfort one another, have then talk about them bond and the memories they made and them comforting one another. In the end the two would meet in the middle, they would embrace one another, hug each other, cry that there safe and together, heck you can have yang kiss ruby on the jrad multiple times and comfort her. They tell each other they each other and will not leave ine another and that mean the world to one another. This shows that ruby ans yang do have a very close relationship, and that they do care about one another. This shows that while yang does love her sister ans is incredibly worried about her and will always have her back same with ruby. You can even have yang and ruby see what there moms and her dad and qrow was like ans bond to one another. This would be more impactful and emotional than bb whixh is beyond disgusting, insulting and incredibly awful. You can even have them bond ans say they will not leave one another and will help calm and reduce ruby stress by alot.
I bet the writer's room doesnt have any actual person thats been in love before, let alone a queer writer. Becuase I look at "da beez" and i look back at Owl House and the latter, I can tell Dana's been in LOVE before, with all the major pairings, AND she's bi so she's writing from experience.

Bumblebee besides just being a forced ship pushed post Monty's death that the majority of fans either didn't care about nor want, culminates in a forced hostage situation from a plot device that dropped out of the literal sky in bizarro land. While other characters are struggling with the fallout of their latest failures, the weight of the death levied at their feet these two awkwardly flirt and are oblivious to everything. The juxtaposition of tone couldn't be more tone deft. It makes Blake and Yang look bad, which makes the ship look bad, which ironically makes LGB messaging more hated than it would have been other wise.

Some people often assume Blake is Arryn's self insert because she talks a lot about the abuse she has suffered from previous partners or just in general (like that controversy where she brought up a 7 year old domestic abuse case about someone working on Ice Queendom).
And considering how poorly Blake's abusive relationship with Adam was set up in the early volumes, but ramped up in volumes 3 and up, that could interpreted as Arryn having a hand in the direction of Blake's character arcs.
Speaking of earthquake, that reminds me back then when black eye peas respond to the earthquake in Japan from the official song "i just cant have enough". I listen to that song all the time and realizing that Japan can never catch a break from earthquakes and tsunamis even back then. That shite sada.

Honestly, they could have just said their romance started when they were both on the train and got an extra spark in the fight with Adam. And developed MORE onwards.
It would make a BIT more sense. Not perfect. But I think it would have worked.
Saying that bumblebee was a thing from the START makes NO sense when you look at Blake's interactions with Sun.
A big reason why writing romances can be so simple and yet so hard that I've observed is that they're heavily an exercise in character study. You can't build the romance if you don't know your characters or the foundation of your characters is unstable, and that's because to even start assembling the romance you need to identify what each partner offers the other.
Do they offer unconditional trust when the other has suffered and battled severe trust issues in the past? Did they offer emotional support or care when the other was suffering loss? Did they counteract the emotional wounds the other suffered, such as protecting their partner-to-be when the partner had been betrayed and bodily harmed in the past? Do they have specific strength of character and capabilities that the other admires? Did they believe in the other when no one else did? (if you think these are oddly specific examples its because they're all drawn from my fav major romances)
This is hardly an exhaustive list, but it shows the point. Even an unhealthy romance needs to understand why the characters are drawn to each other, and that requires either deliberate crafting of the characters in that regard or deliberate identification of what they would find appealing in each other, be it a preeexisting trait of theirs or something they have to cultivate over time. If you can do this, it's easy street. If not, you're in for a nightmare.
Bumbleby is the nightmare.
Sure, they're very easy to ship. Blake and Yang both fit into the dark-paletted, quiet, serious, introverted moody person x the bubbly, lighter-paletted, lighter-hearted, hotheaded person mold. It's a classic ship dynamic to the point of aesthetic. But I think basing the shipping of BB off of it falls apart once you try to examine the relationship more closely under this lens.
The usual premise of this ship dynamic is that the dark-paletted serious one is supposed to keep the bubbly lighter-paletted hothead more grounded, and in turn the bubbly hothead is supposed to help the serious one loosen up and enjoy life more. It's a very basic template for what these type of partners offer each other, and yet Blake and Yang don't quite meet it. A lot of this is because they rode off of mostly Vibes in Poser era when their interactions were lacking, but when the writers try to crack open them relationship beyond the Vibes the dynamic starts to turn rancid.
See the meat of Blake and Yang's deeper character interactions with each other are basically steeped in trauma from all the way back in Poser. Burning the Candle, Yang has to talk/shove Blake out of a self-destructive spiral stemming from Blake's White Fang trauma using her abandonment issues with Raven. V3, Blake has Yang reassure her about the latter "punching" Merc in the leg. Also V3, they gain shared trauma with Blake's history with Adam and now Yang is missing a limb from him and then Blake's running away relapse triggers Yang's abandonment issues. V5, Weiss has to reassure Yang about Blake's motives for leaving, going back to the trauma. V6, they're walking on eggshells around each other because Blake is trying to make up to Yang by helping her with little things and Yang is getting annoyed because she doesn't want to be coddled or implied she's incapable. Also V6, they kill Adam together and Blake makes an emotional declaration that she won't leave Yang. V7, they "discuss" that they killed Adam (granted in self-defense) so vaguely that I genuinely didn't realize they were talking about Adam the first time. V8, they boop foreheads and Yang angsts around a conflict with Blake that was presumably cut, V9 they finally move out of this mire and into confession.
Laying this out, it's difficult to pinpoint a healthy spin on what each half of BB offers each other. As it stands, it looks like this so far:
Blake offers Yang essentially a living manifestation of her abandonment issues, and it REALLY doesn't help that she bears superficial resemblance to Raven. She relapses into what is said to be her old coping mechanisms and runs away, massively triggering Yang when the loss of an arm already put Yang in a bad mental state. When she returns, she's already had the heavy lifting of trying to explain herself done by Weiss, so she fails at emotional support even after the fact because she never had that conversation with Yang, and she will continue to not have conversations with Yang regarding similar topics because the writers keep skipping to the resolution instead of having the characters work it out. Her attempts afterword are overcompensation by trying to help Yang in any way she can but ends up annoying Yang instead, which falls into the pattern of Blake not really being able to emotionally support Yang, either through the story skipping through opportunities for her to or just her fumbling.
Yang offers Blake basically unconditional devotion and a minefield of abuse triggers. Yang has pretty much always been there for Blake when Blake needed her (with Blake failing to offer her the same). She talks Blake out of her Burning the Candle spiral, she searches for Blake during the Fall and attacks to defend her, she welcomes Blake into the team reunion group hug, she motorcycle-dropkicks Adam for Blake and fights him to give Blake relief, she pines after Blake in V8 after they had their clearly cut disagreement, she steps in front of Blake during Ruby's blowup in V9 despite that being her sister, and also is the one that confesses first in the punderstorm at Blake's request. At the same time, she's only gotten arguably angrier and more prone to if not violent outbursts then at least yelling, which should all be triggering to Blake given her reaction to Yang "punching" Merc in V3 and how she related that to her experience with Adam.
I can hardly say this is what either character needs. They're basically tailor-made to trigger each other, and the writing team doesn't have the chops to do the work to move them beyond it, especially when their solution is to skim the potential interpersonal conflicts Blake and Yang have lingering between them.
If you asked me, this is what Blake and Yang need in a romantic partner:
As a faunus rights activist, Blake needs someone who treats her not like an animal, but like a human being (poor phrasing but I can't come up with anything better, you know what I mean). Before this was gutted out of her, she was all about equality, fighting for the rights of the faunus, etc. So ideally what she'd find appealing (in a human partner at least) is someone who at least respects her as a person, crucially after she reveals her ears. Yes I'm side-eyeing Yang for that bs with the laser-pointer in Burning the Candle. That's an appealing foundation. Next she needs someone to counteract her low self-esteem and self-destructive spirals. Yang had a decent start with Burning the Candle where she convinced Blake to not run herself into the ground, but her personality type continues to be an unaddressed obstacle. Sun fulfilled the role better because he was able to keep a level head while talking Blake down from a spiral after he was hurt by Ilia.
Yang needs someone who reciprocates her unconditional devotion and builds trust with her that they will return to her. Not never leave, because thats an impossible toxic promise, but that unlike Raven, unlike Summer, and even unlike Taiyang, they will physically return to her and emotionally stay with her. That is probably the most appealing foundation for her, considering it would soothe her abandonment issues. She also needs someone more level-headed to talk her down from when she's angry. I'm not just talking about like… her outbursts in Poser, I'm talking about her angry behavior in Maya too, like when she explodes at Ozpin/Oscar. She might be technically less fight-impulsive than she used to be, but she still does have a serious problem with a temper and her emotional brain taking over and saying some pretty nasty things.
These appeals I don't think have to come pre-packaged into the character, it's possible for Yang or Blake to cultivate these traits over the course of the story, but I do see them as non-negotiable when arranging a romance for Blake or Yang as their characters have been built.

You know what really bothers me about Blake? The animators don’t really know what to do with her in combat. Her role is clearly supposed to be to be the Rouge/ninja but they have no idea what that looks like in a team/fight.
In the Vital Festival, why is Blake spinning around Yang to deliver the final blow? She’s not the strong man, she looks so out of place doing something like this. Situations like this dictate it should be Yang throwing one of the other girls at the enemy.
How cool would it have been if Blake was thrown, and she cut through the enter enemy team. After landing safely, the enemy team just falls unconscious.
Adam and Blake are literally based off beauty and the beast of course they were a couple. How could anyone deny that?
Random thought but has anybody ever thought why the four colours were chosen? Red yellow black and white seem nonsensical. Red yellow and blue would make sense as the three primary colours, or red yellow and green as the primary colours of light. Clearly, the logic of colour theory cannot be suppressed as they keep putting Weiss in blue and Blake in purples.
I know why those four was chosen. There is one cultural thing that puts those four side by side: alchemy. Through the process that leads to the magnum opus, a material goes through four colour stages; negrido, albedo, xanthos, and rubedo. The outcome of this process is Rebis, the ultimate life form, combining opposites . Could Monty have had this in mind? Strange that alchemy hasn’t been mentioned at all in a show that attempts to use fairytales and folklore , and originally revolves around magic elemental crystals.
Has anyone considered why the ‘team of four’ thing exists? I think it’s simply because Monty creates 4 OCs who’s initials remake the name of the main character: RWBY. Without much thought , he then made a secondary cast with the same name idea; JNPR . Then he threw in that maybe that’s how this school structures their students . However, the writers don’t really see any value in carrying this forward, and they seem to be stuck with the ‘main 4’ supposedly being an inseparable team.
I don’t know much about roosterteeth – were the voice actresses for Blake and Yang already rt employees? We’re they friends with the writers ? Or were they external actresses that were brought in?
I maintain that bumblebee was made up years later to try to score diversity points. I think the only reason Blake and Yang have some scenes together in earlier seasons , and why yang and Blake had the arm cutting moment together was this: the order of the names in the title; Rwby. That acronym cause Ruby to be given a dynamic with Weiss- then the writers though ‘hmm I guess I’d better do something with the BY’ . Then they wanted Yang to have a robot arm soon, so they put her in with the Adam Blake interaction . Voila. That is sufficient explanation.
