I love that you are honest here with your reaction and I think the way you cuttet it for the youtube edit is really good, I think you can still watch this reaction and have fun with it, I can really feel why you were bored during much of this, for me it is a movie that is a little like meditation or that i watch to calm down
i love that you liked the ave maria music and appreciated night on bald mountain, for me the best part of fantasia 🙂

The Sorcerer's Apprentice has nothing to do with King Arthur. They literally explained the story right before the piece played. King Arthur and Merlin and The Sword in the Stone has nothing to do with this. Also, Disney's Sword in the Stone came out 23 years after Fantasia, so it's not a reference to that either.
The dinosaur music was proably my favroite part of the film.
I remember the original one where there was a small black goat centaur which helped the women to get pretty and such but they had to cut it because of obvious reasons…
This was Disney’s personal favorite. He was immensely proud of it, and he took its lack of box office success very personally. Up until his death, he would try to think of ways to “fix” it. He desperately wanted for people to love it.
The Pastoral and the Hippo and Crocodile are my favorite part from Fantasia
Cinderella and sleeping beauty that's where she gets her power from Saint Ignace self-sustaining does have some connections even in the sleeping beauty comics that came out the time they bring up the name Satan in that as well so he's not just after Fantasia that he disappeared in other films he was referenced later to still be characters in the Disney universe
I know it is a lot to ask Disney to bring 2d animation back, but in 2023, aka Disney's 100th anniversary, it would be the perfect timing for another Fantasia, maybe a Disney+ series

Yeah, whoever recommended this to you should have told you what you were in for. And you should know that this is around the era of Disney's war-time Package Era films, so those would absolutely not be up your alley, I expect. You might have a group of people who LOVE fantasia (I'm one of them) but I don't think it's hugely loved overall. Lots of people straight up can't stand it. But I'd say the dinosaur one is pretty much everyone's least favorite. (The hippo one is in my top two, though! It's just too cute!)
This movie is why I can't separate the Pastoral Symphony and Greek mythology in my head. Or Rite of Spring and paleoart

I remember hearing that some of the hands on visual effects used in fantasia was lost. They had it in a book, but moving offices time and time again lost the book. many people have been trying to recreate them with the technology Disney had at the time and if memory serves some succeeded, but not all of them have been figured out.
If noone mentioned it… EVERY bit of this is hand drawn. No computers.
GREEK PASTORAL, when Zeus sends 2 stormy winds to blow through, they are called, "THE TWIN ZEPHYRS", that us also the name of the 2 New Streamliner Diesel Art Deco Passenger trains, used by the BURLINGTON RAILROAD, in 1937, for the New High Speed Run from Chicago West to Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota, at the Unheard of, AND Unbelievable High Speeds of 110 M.P.H.!!!!! Absolutely 💯 AMAZING in 1937 when coal fired steam locomotives 🚂 🚂 like the 4-6-4 Hudson-class, or the larger 4-8-4 Northern-class and with many other names like the S.P. RR. California-"DAYLIGHT" from Los Angeles North to San Francisco, had just cracked the Speed Limit of 100 mph!!!!! But the New Diesel ZEPHYR was like the imaginary movie serials, like BUCK ROGERS. OR FLASH GORDON, or books like TOM SWIFT AND HIS ATOMIC LOCOMOTIVE 🚂 🚄!!!!! DIESEL WAS THE FUTURE!!!!! Sadly within 23 years by 1960 the diesels helped kill the noble Iron horse steam locomotive 🚂 that were hauled away to the junkyard, and some were only 9 years old…..sad 😢 😞 😕!!!!! But, Walt Disney saved some smaller ones for DISNEYLAND RR in Anaheim, and Walt had a really small miniature live steamer locomotive of the 4-4-0 AMERICA 🇺🇸 CLASS Number 173 that Walt named as the 1873, "LILLY-BELLE" in Honor of his wife, and some of his animators like Mr. Ward Kimball had a real Narrow-guage steamer of the 2-6-0 Mogul named the EMMA NEVADA and since his death it was donated to another RAILROAD MUSEUM. Plus +, many more amusement parks with steam locomotives 🚂 . AND Many train Museums all around the World 🌎 have steamers for tourism. Plus ➕ another ZEPHYR named "MARK TWAIN" is being rebuilt in Wisconsin, and when it is finished in 2024, you can once again ride the Wild Wind.of the Western Wisconsin ZEPHYR , WOW!!!!! ALL ABOARD !! HIGHBALL 👋,!! FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!!! CLEAR THE TRACKS!!!!! ZEPHYR EXPRESS, COMING THROUGH!!!!! O.

I agree with the Rite of spring i love the Dinosaurs moments but the begining and ending is so BORING.
One of my all time favorite movies, and it has been ever since I was a child. I regularly stayed up late watching it with my parents. The Rites of Spring and the Night on Bald Mountain obviously lingered the most in my mind, being the scary segments. But The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and the Pastoral Suite were the most fun.
Now that I’m older, I still find it unbelievable that the animation was all done by hand. No computer stuff here. Mind blowing when you think about it.
To explain, at 19:10 those are not crocodiles but instead are a kind of marine reptile called Mosasaurus, although they could be a completely different kind of marine reptile species. Way back then, there were many different marine reptiles in the ocean, today Sea Turtles are the only one left of this ancient legacy. Sometimes we incorrectly identify this as a Dinosaur but in reality it wasn't. Dinosaurs apply to either the four legged or 2 legged reptiles. And then at 19:17, those are Pteranodons which are a type of Pterosaur, not a dinosaur but a flying reptile.
I have the vhs and i managed to cut the Halloween scene out without making it obvious that its gone. My girls have no idea that is supposed to be in here.
I am so late to this because I noticed your channel a couple months ago but Fantasia is actually one of my favorite movies because of the music and animation and its creativity! It’s even more magical than any other Disney movie I have ever watched!
