A $600 million fighter jet contract is set to bring more than 350 jobs to Queensland as Australia looks to boost its air force capabilities.

Boeing Defence has been awarded a contract to cultivate the Super Hornet and Growler fleets for the Royal Australian Air Force.

90 per cent of the contract will be spent in Australia.

The focus will primarily be on South East Queensland.

The boost follows a recent $2 billion upgrade to Australia’s fleet.

    Blimps where known as battleships of the sky

    The roar of their engines gave reason for fear.

    They flew so high they were hard to shoot down

    Hiding above clouds till their targets drew near.

    Tracer bullets for the first time were used

    In the guns of airplanes to set blimps a fire.

    The skies became man's highway of death

    With duty and honor their driving desire.

    How many Fly-boys have we lost since then

    Those days of the Great War and more?

    Where do we get such brave souls of chance

    Who rise from the rest in the battles of war?

  28. Multi billion $ USA supply dependant Fighter jets, tanks, subs and bombs is dangerous and does not preserve our sovereignty. A well armed, trained and led people's army does, just ask the Vietnamese, Afghans, Algerians, Irish, American patriots and Greeks.

  31. Band aid answer – to a huge problem. Labor is not prepared to defend Australia. The wedge comes this year – china is saying – it will try to take Taiwan before the U.S. Presidential elections. North Korea has nuclear weapons all prepared. They have completed their development phases of rockets and nuclear bombs. North Korea could move on South Korea when China moves on Taiwan. The main game in town – is get the U.S. out of South East Asia and the pacific.

    Something bed wetter Albo and all his left wing fairy ministers – could not ev3en handle. Given – our importation of more then half of our fuel oil requirements.

    All Albo worries about is Net Zero – and that sums up his government – they are also net zero performers.

    Let's see how – labor does then. The most modern ships the Australian Navy owns – are three destroyers. And two helicopter landing ships. After that – it Mc Hales Navy.

    We wont get the nuclear submarines.

    This is why China will want Taiwan in 2024. The U.S. is no longer a world power – the Democrats have seen to that. They live in the media like labor – not in the real world.

    The U.S. wont be able to put it's aircraft carriers to sea. To cross the pacific for the U.S. will be extremely hard – given the distances.

    That places Australia in great peril. We can easily be cut off from the U.S. And we have important U.S. bases in Australia – China will want to take out.

    Labor are prepared for nothing.

    This is the year China has the best chance to take Taiwan. Australia – has no military. We could not even defend Australia.

    The U.S. we be like the U.K. in WW2 – their own survival – will be their main goal. You will see China challenge the U.S.

    For the main reason – to dominate the world. The alliance of Russia – China – North Korea – Iran. All border reach other. And they all have the necessary minerals – to win a war.

    As for labor – and banning nuclear weapons. Labor should know – from trying to ban – cigarettes – illegal drugs and guns. Bans don't work.

    You ban nuclear weapons – other countries still developed them.

    Labor are the biggest fools in politics. Nuclear weapons bans only preclude – yourself – from defending yourself.

    China wants it's mantle back – as a world power. And this year – is that year.
