There may be a game with an inconceivable range of permutations for your decisions, with unforgettable companions. Others may let you explore the farthest reaches of space and create your own fun. Then there are those built on the drive to min-max and take on more challenging enemies.

Some poor quality games on this list
remnant2 is probably the best rpg and coop game i've played in recent years, up there with elden ring and sekiro. but starfield got no 1 is crazy. dude probably bethesda diehard fan. lol

To overlook Sea of Stars and Octopath Traveler 2, or even Remnant 2 for Horizon, Dead Island 2, and especially Starfield is a criminal travesty. Gamingbolt had their AAA glasses on for this one.
Hack n Slash modules / games don't qualify for RPGs, they are too linear to be RPGs…
This is even more true for click to hit style of games, they aren't truly RPGs, they are click to hit / shoot games…
Combat is NOT the main feature of an RPG, not even, it's a secondary feature at best.
I’m not too crazy about how rpgs have evolved over the years. It’s unfortunately more about action and spamming your buttons, grinding out damage sponge bosses than it is about role playing

I think everyone on here doesn’t understand that this is an opinion piece for somebody and all they’re doing is shitting on Starfield now Starfield wasn’t a super awesome game like baulders gate 3 but it is definitely a death RPPG. THAT THE GAME DOES A TERRIBLE JOB OF EXPLAINING ALL THE SYSTEMS IN THE GAME BUT WHEN YOU FINALLY UNDERSTAND ALL THE MECHANICS IN THE GAME YOU GET INTO THE STORY, THE SHIPBUILDING, THE BASE BUILDING, AND ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF STAR IS ACTUALLY A PRETTY SOLID RPG

Look i like starfield I'm having fun… I'm not a BG3 fan but in no way is starfield in any way better than BG3 in any way. Except load screens. Even CPPL was way better than starfield. Bro Wild Hearts was ok'ish game but with all of its trouble, low content and cut support way too early does not deserve to be on this list.
