– The law shouldn't allow companies like Monster Energy to constantly harass game devs by constantly abusing trademark with baseless complaints. They don't own the word Monster, nor a green/white color combo for logos, nor monster-esque logo shapes, nor should they be allowed to.

So basically same thing that happened to “Ion Maiden”. They had to change the name of their game (Ion Fury). There’s gonna be backlash from fans on both sides about how stupid this is. Iron Maiden is the name of a torture device, later adopted by the band. So “Ion Maiden” was “way too close and infringing on the trademark”.
Pathetic. But hey, all press is good press if it gets your name out “even if you’re the top selling energy drink already.
So if there's a company name "Earth", does that mean they own the earth? or "Cosmo", errr "Sun", or "Vagina"… This energy drink company is so full of them self, maybe its because of all those energy drink they drank rattle the brains too much? Who know, who give a shit anyway, they are done. Its better this way, they dig they own grave with they own hands so I cant complain, I just sit and watch them bury them self after.
Somebody should try to revoke their trademark or register similar brand and start to harras them. 😀
I don't know how this can be confused, i don't think of Monster Energy if i hear the word "Monster". I think of.. You know…. Monsters, creatures etc.
Include Energy inn, then we can think about Monster Energy
Some Fine Bros. energy here once again
I thought the whole issue a year ago with "it takes two" and Take Two/Rockstar was garbage, but I guess we're still at it with other companies
Are they desperate or something dont they sell enough garbage or something really what in the fuck are they thinking 😂
They deserve to go bankrupt for ruining their Assault flavor.
They're also now going after Monster musume which it's not going to go as well as monster thinks it will
The only thing I associate "Monster" with now is "childish lawsuits". Way to make gamers not buy your drink. Oblivious execs being oblivious execs. xD
PS. I'm not that familiar with this copyright stuff, but is it worldwide or tied to the country the company is based in? For example if the company is based in America can they complain about someone in Asia or Europe for example? Do they have to copyright words per country or what?
There's actually a pretty good, but also stupid reason they do this. Trademark holders don't want their marks to be genericized. So when you use a word that is basically their trademark in a way that suggests that no one sees it as a product, it runs the risk of being genericized as a matter of law, and thus no one trademark eligible. This is why "xerox" and "escalator" became common words, when they were actually trademarks first. The remedy is basically for a trademark holder to send notices that you're using their trademark wrong, sort of as proof that they're still taking steps to protect the trademark from being incorrectly used.
I'm dead ass gonna boycott Monster energy for abusing their influence and hurting these game devs for no reason other than Monster's tiny dick. I'm a Rockstar guy now I guess.
Good thing i never tried any energy drinks. I always drink water because it is much more healthier.
You are absolutely wrong with Fenyx Rising. This name is not generic. Fucking Gods and Monsters is.
dude clean up ur room
They tried to sue the Mad Monster Horror Convention; a convention that they sponsored for years! They are so freaking delusional.
Wait…this is a good thing. If they are suing multiple people. Then all of them could come together and sue monster at the same time. They would not be able to settle anything. Easy victory.
For years, I gave “MONSTER” a ton of my money by buying (24 pack) cases of cases of monster, and they not getting any more. One because they make it hard for me to pee now… I know, too much info, and second, they trippin now.
Imagine trying to sue the highest grossing media company of all time
This was just a desperate attempt to make some quick and easy cash wasn't it.
I hope this ends up like Tim Langdell. You know, the "edge" guy. This is all very similar.
Please can someone develop and release a game called "Energetic Monsters"? I want to see they losing their head so much.
I don't consume monster products and now that i know this, i never will!
Give monster energy gets a time machine
Starts trying to sue a kid in the dark ages who said monster
Reminds me of back in the day when the Fine Bros tried to trademark the word "react" and would go after everyone who tried to use that word and video formula.
Or Bethesda going after Mojang for the word "scrolls"
And the difference with those is at least that both sides are the same context.
Monster Energy only has the trademark on the word "Monster" in context of energy drinks. Nobody else can make another energy drink with the title "monster", for obvious reasons. It could confuse people over which drink they're getting. Nobody would confuse a Pokemon for an energy drink. Nobody would try to buy some drink and by accident buy Monster Hunter.
And there is a good reason why Monster Energy has the trademark only for the context of energy drinks. The word "monster" is a normal word that can be used in any context. I could say that the company is acting like a real monster here.
Tough talk from a company that sells canned urine.
Remember when Bethesda harassed Mojang for making a game using the word "Scrolls" in the title? This is somehow even stupider in my eyes.
That company is a joke. You guys can't be serious😂
Just an FYI, Pokémon lawyers are known to be even more ruthless than Nintendo’s.
A vile-tasting cocktail of chemicals and carbonated sugar-water; breakfast of losers.
I have trademarked the letters e, t, o, a, i and n. I'm suing you all for trademark infringement!
Maybe they have a case. I can't count the number of times I've browsed Steam, saw a game named something like "Battle Monsters" or "Humans vs Monsters" or whatever, and put in my credit card details because I thought I was going to be downloading an energy drink.
Because it's never happened to anyone, ever. Fuck off, Monster Energy. I can't even drink their garbage because of the artificial sweeteners, but I'd boycott it over this if I could drink it.
Im reminded of when the Fine Brothers tried to copyright the word react LMFAO exactly this is somehow EVEN DUMBER. Imagine going after the highest earnings IP in the HISTORY OF THE WORLD
This will cause Monster Energy itself to be downfall, because of all the dramas over the years.
There is town in Netherlands called Monster
They’re called “Monster Energy” not just Monster for one. Lul
Never going to buy from this shitty brand again
Monster Energy deserve their trademark revoked.
Monster Energy want own the word "monster". Japan rejected lawsuit over the "Monster" word by Pokemon Company and Capcom.
No Man's Sky also had a similar problem with British news company Sky News contesting their use of the word, "Sky" in their name.
Funny enough they're trademark isnt even monster its monster energy
