uuugh, the fleeing thing is such old, outdated lore. we know why they came to our galaxy like.
My problem with the "Tyranids are fleeing something more scary" theory is that they stop to feed & grow at every world. That's not what an animal "fleeing" looks like.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Cawl that discovered Nids were only surface feeders?
I think the tyranids are fleeing from themselves. Either the earlier, unknown sections of the hive mind became diseased and they are running from it. Or the earlier sections deemed the younger sections as obselete, or they ran out of biomass and are on a constant tide against the back of the younger tyranids. Maybe they are running from one, GIANT and huge tyranid, like a space whale the size of multiple galaxies that just scoops up whole fleets of tyrnids.

The Hive Mind has one problem from a table top gaming perspective. That problem is, If the hive mind can contact every tyranid bio form in the galaxy, then no two groups of tyranids can fight each other. Using the analogy of ant nests on Earth, different groups of tyranids should be competing for resources.
Another point I've made responding to other related Tyranid videos is that the Tyranids may not be "Running" from another race, but might in fact be their hunting dogs.
