How do I know exorcism is fake? because it only ever seems to affect religious people with mental or physical ailments never regular nonreligious people who go to doctors instead of a priest
When will the world come to terms with religiosity being a mental illness
@13:07 Schmidt-Leichner argues that the Germans could legally start a new inquisition. Wonder if they could hear and understand themselves as they said that.
Hold up one of the demons was Hitler?
And the other was Nero?
ok, that was bullshit.
Exorcisms and faith healings are some of the most depraved church practices that even nowadays are still incredibly prevalent, which is baffling
"It's not our fault – she REFUSED to eat. We couldn't just FORCE her to do it. You know how much we respect her personal autonomy!" – RCC
religion is not rational, and this is what it can lead to. its good to remember when talking to "normal" religious people.
Ah….religion.
So let me understand this:
They did the exorcism in Secret, on the grounds of 'she doesn't look epileptic?'
I have a feeling this was less about the exorcism and more about the glory of 'divine healing.' That the priests doing this only thought about the bragging rights they would have afterwards. Being able to 'prove' that a clear medical illness is really 'demons that can be banished,' is a big feather in the cap for any bishop.
Look at that list of 'demons…'
Most where historical figures, that is the sort of weak excuse a child would use when caught in a lie. Three where demonic figures but even those three where names that come fast to mind for someone in their church. Legion, Baal, Lucifer… Yeah, right, you know you had no such evidence.
For there are no new names here, nor any names that match ancient texts known only to demonologists, and they are using humans to pad out the list. Nothing someone who actually studies these things would find worthy more then the trash. In full disclosure, I am not a practitioner but I do follow Forrasis, so this is just rubbing me wrong as all sorts of unethical behavour would.
Oh the laughs there:
The most knowledgeable voice on Ethics and Logic can be found in hell….
There’s a brilliant film inspired this called Requiem.
They can't apologize with out admitting they were wrong. Doing so would cause more criticism. How many more times were they wrong? When you're dealing with that much money and power, do you honestly think they would admit fault?
It's worth noting as well that while Christian exorcisms are a relatively new practice, possession by and expulsion of evil spirits has existed around the world for millenia.
The perils of superstitious thinking. Religion harms us all.
Aha I remember when my mom talked about wanting to get an exorcism for me because my depression is so bad lmao :')
If you're hiring the defense lawyer from the Nuremberg trials, you have done something really f'd up.
And I have to wonder if she even could eaten towards the end. Maybe "refusing food" and vomiting because your body can't even process it is considered the same by them.
Yeah, how eles could we chase the evil spirits away but beating the shjt out of it 😂😂. The past is the worst
People who believe exorcisms work are more mentally ill than the poor people having the exorcism done on them
The church is just the worst
Idk if exorcisms are real but I know I had a experience that I can’t explain after sleeping in a room 6 hours after a exorcisms was preformed.
When you get the nazis' favourite lawyer to defend you, you KNOW you done fucked up real good.
That new intro though! 😍
Jesus christ Simon. Everytime i get fixated on something i find yet another of your channels, and when i sub within a day or two you publish a video of what i was fixated on! Teach me your ways oh wise Sorcerer, so i may create quality content and grow my viewership 🙌
I wonder what the ratio is for exorcisms performed on women compared to men?
the constant flashing in this video isn’t enough to make my epilepsy act up but it is certainly hard to watch and a few minutes in it’s making my head and eyes hurt 😭
And people still take catholicism seriously?
The author managed to conflate: Catholicism, Protestantism, witchcraft, Exorcism and demonic possession – very sloppy. The author's atheism and sarcasm is showing. Disappointing.
I feel SO bad for whomever edited this one. As a follower of CasCrim and Decoding, Simon MUST have ripped off and gone nuts on this for HOURS.
oh please, any sane person knows that doctors are the servants of the devil
What did the pre-reform exorcism entail ?
Sounds about right.
I didn’t expect to see this on here but I am actually more pissed than scared. Any one who has covered this case always uses a picture of Anneliese suffering (which I think is a post mortem photograph of her) I don’t know if it’s for clicks or what but I find it to be incredibly disrespectful. Whether she was possessed or not, she was a human being like the rest of us and the fact that her suffering is still being exploited makes me angry. Cmon Simon, you’re better than that.
Decoding the Unknown has ruined these for me knowing Simon trying to keep a straight face lmao
There was the death of a child recently by exorcism in California, USA. The toddler was crying a lot and the mom thought it was demons. Her, her uncle, and the priest were arrested, charged, and found guilty. There is religious freedom but that doesn't give you a right to kill your kid with the excuse of "they had demons."
This kinda makes it sound like these rituals are common practice in the church, but I've never encounted anything even remotely resembling this kind of stuff.
I wonder if this is like someone reading about CIA operations and then believing that their local librarian is secretly doing Mission Impossible stuff because they are both government employees.
Hate to say it given the legal ramifications, stigma, and exceedingly high costs of mental healthcare today I don’t find it surprising that many people turn to the church for mental treatment. Especially given the current tendency of physicians to over medicate those seeking help. Sure we can find examples of exorcisms gone wrong, but at least the church tends to treat it like a last resort, after prayer, investigation and just plain talking to someone with genuine compassion and working to understand the underlying issues. Which is in most cases what a mentally ill person needs.
Imagine believing in any of this shite as an adult with easy access to the biggest collection of human knowledge in history.
Ahh yes…i was performing an exorcism on my wife…. That's why she was tied up.
Too many flashing images in this video
This sounds a lot like "The Exercism of Emily Rose." Is this what the movie was based on?
Germans starving people to death…nothing new here.
I don't knowif thern version of the catholic exorcism took place in the 1500s, but Pr Dendle UPenn, an expert on the devil and the middle ages, has found out that A LOT OF PRACTICES used in Saxon and Norman England were actually exorcistic in nature : chase the evil spirits off before they can do harm.
