Another generous and wonderful mail time from everyone, Wow. Sydney looked cute in her outfit at the end 🙂
Gad you enjoyed the package. Ian let me know your reaction to those Bundaberg ginger beer chips! I was skeptical at first but personally I thought they nailed the flavour.
That's such a shame about the empty package☹️. Auspost automatically insures to $100 but you can purchase extra if you choose.
I always make sure there's a tonne of packing tape around all the edges. Either I do it myself or I request them to add more if they do it lol.
And the staff always make sure you provide an email address at least in Qld.
Mitre (my-ter 10 )is like Bunnings but the stores are not as big. And they've been around longer I think.
"The road ahead" mag is put out by RACQ(a roadside assistance/insura.nce company in Qld)
The straw things with the blades on them were from the emergency services expos that I went to. You rub/spin them between your hands and let them go and they will fly. The ambulance rulers are from that too. They gave away a lot of free stuff there. I'll be sure to send you the footagee once I finally get back to finishing it!

Mitre 10 is an Australian retail and trade hardware store chain. Operations are based on a cooperative system, where the store owners are members of the national group and each has voting rights. The chain name references the mitre joint. There are over 400 "Mitre 10" and its associated "True Value Hardware" franchises throughout Australia.
Just in case this is the issue with the phone number Ian, you'll need to replace the opening number ( a zero) with +61 to dial an Australian mobile (cell).
SAM B.: Report this loss to Auspost and get them to track it for you. Their insurance should cover the cost at least! Show them the start of this video if it helps.
Albury = all-b’ree
Wangaratta = wang as in sang, ga-ratta as in batter but we don’t enunciate the final r.
Our Summer started yesterday! (Friday, 1st December)
lol.. Sydney looks like daddy's little girl 👼 👨👩👧
Mitre 10 is the other Bunnings! LOL! And it’s mitre, not metre – “my-ter”.
The Block is a TV show on the Nine network, where competing teams of two build or renovate rooms to create million dollar homes, which are auctioned off at the end of the series.
Keep the coffee crunch just for the adults because it has coffee bean bits all through it.
The Whitsundays has white sand, so the water shows its actual colour! Same with K’gari (formerly Fraser Island)
yeah you can eat Bunnings sausages inside the store … there was a recent controvery where Bunnings required they put the onions on the bottom of the bun rather than on top of the sausage, to prevent onions falling off and causing a slipping hazard lol
If it was opened for inspection and goods siezed there would be paperwork afixed, or at least some form of notification. Someone ripped you off. I feel bad for you and the sender.
A tip if you send long distance packages, use a lot of package tape and put the box in a plastic bag
I looked up what Lamington is…was a surprise for me, we also make them, you can buy them in pastry shops or in a bakery, here (Hungary) they are called simply: coconut cube.
I know you like to pronounce Aussie words correctly.. so Albury is said like Allbury.
It’s unfortunate for both Sam and yourself that the package arrived empty. Maybe Sam can put a complaint into Australia Post (if not insured) as the label ‘This was repaired by Australia Post in Melbourne’ (3:52) kinda indicates where this went wrong. Your video and a shot of the label on the damaged package would be helpful for that. Good luck Sam in recovering your money as I know this would have cost a bit. Love your clips Ian, when are you coming Aus?? 😀
Omg what about making a pavlova? But you might start a debate on who first made it. 😂
Miter 10 is a hardware that only sells good stuff and has top service, Bunnings has cheap nasty stuff and bad srevice ……. if you can find a staff member.
Your postal service sucks, I sent you a carton with Falcon, FPV stuff & Samboy chips + little NSW number plates for bedroom doors with Emma and Andrew on them. But sad to say the tracking stopped at LA and it was never seen again. 2 years ago. Australia post looked for over a year with no luck "LA siad it never arived but tracking said it did"
just looking at the letter you are reading it looks like it has been knocked around and if you are wondering why wodonga looks so clean the main streets and its sourroundings get cleaning every day by the local sweep cleaner
Bunnings is my favourite store of all time, second only to Radioshack (before it went under). There is nothing they don't have but the prices there now, like everywhere else, are just off the planet. As for the sausage sizzle they have them around the entrance. However, like every other store, food or drink cannot be consumed inside. Still, there's nothing stopping you from getting your fix before going in.
Ian and Danni your children are so Adorable and polite
Who said the art of letter writing is dead? It's great that viewers are writing real letters to you guys so that you get a better idea of places you may wish to visit if and when you come to Oz, especially regional and rural areas outside of the big capital cities. Albury-Wodonga or Wodonga-Albury depending on which side of the border you live on, which was mentioned, is an inland city with a combined population of 100,000, which is big by Australian standards. There are actually many large regional centres like this, including Toowoomba (Qld) with 150,000, followed by Ballarat (Vic) with 115,000, both of which are inland cities like Albury Wodonga, and Gold Coast-Tweed Heads (Qld) with 720,000 and Newcastle (NSW) with 520,000, which are on the coast. These all offer the best of both worlds in terms of city and country living.
Hi guys, we live near Andrew from Wodonga. A small town in Victoria, Chiltern… Please google it. It is like an old western town. When we go to Wodonga, we say going to town. We live in NE Victoria, the best climate, surrounded by wineries, forests, pastureland, close to the Alps.
PS. Daniella, I would love to see you make a Christmas Pavlova – separated eggs, sugar, cornflower, vinegar – baked – top with fresh or frozen fruits, whipped cream, and passionfruit (optional)! 😋👍
Please make and try a kiwi pavlova youll never go back
Hey Ian, just so you know Albury is pronounced All-bury! Mitre 10 is My-ter 10. Potato bake would be an ideal side dish to make right now as most Aussies have this over Christmas!
Mitre 10 is a hardware store
that was not shrimp, it was known as rock Lobster or crayfish, one of them any way.
You can eat the sausage sizzle in store, there was a highly controversial incident where somebody slipped on some spilled onions, the solution was to put the onions under the sausage not on top, which was called unAustralian, even by our Prime Minister of the day. You don't mess with our tradition. Just look where you're going aye.
Another wise tip is to declare the contents of the box with an official label, takes the surprise element away but at least you will know what was stolen if it were to reoccur, such a shame, had to be done on your end unfortunately, an empty box would not have left Australia, Sorry for Sam and you guys, it must have been something pretty valuable.
We have Lowes here, but its mostly mens clothes, Ian…not huge anymore…Its a very old store franchise..
So glad AI will replace more of these sorting and customs jobs. At least robots don’t steal anything. It could still go missing when delivered by humans but then it is obvious who took it.
Iv sent you a email about
It makes me feel proud to be an Australian to see someone from overseas opening my mail and reading my letter thank you ian
i feel sorry for sam all that time and effort posting from one country to another its terrible
Sounds like passing the buck, the US mail service looking to blame Aussie Post, typical
