The Badab War is the name given to one of the most serious rebellions in recent Imperial history. While the conflict is named for a planet (or system of the same name), the war actually took place throughout the several sectors of Imperial space known as the Maelstrom Zone. The war saw four entire Space Marine Chapters secede and rebel against the Imperium.

The Badab War is notable for several reasons; the leader of the rebellious forces, Lufgt Huron, would survive the end of the war and return to trouble Imperial space once more as the Chaos-alligned warlord known as Huron Blackheart, while the conflict itself involved a significant number of warring Space Marine Chapters as the primary participants.

  1. 6:21 I know 11/18 being generous in the term know but I'm a lore buff. My definition of know is give at least 1 piece of nonrelevant information about a chapter so it's pretty easy for me. Plus we've talked about some of these chapters on this channel. Most of these chapters have lots of lore hell one of them is a 1st founding chapter. Look for * next to the name to see if they've been on here or at least mentioned in passing usually in passing. In order of relevance. I'd say it goes like this.
The ones I don't know so won't be including.
    Star Phantoms
    Sons of Medusa
    Tiger Claws
    Howling Griffins
    Marines Errant
*Red Scorpions – These are the guys Bricky mixed up in the Vraks Series with the Red Hunters
    Fire Angels

*Salamanders=1 For obvious reasons they have a Primarch you know who they are.
*Minotours =2 Easy they have more books than any other chapter here or are in other books they are relevant in recent lore even after RG resurrection.
*Astral Claws=3 while this is their biggest claim to fame and other lore about them is kind of scarce, I give them 3 as this wouldn't be happening without them. They do have other lore this is just their biggest most detailed work which leaves all else lacking.
*Lamenters=4 for obvious reasons these guys could technically be 3 cause again more lore but ehhh they play side roles 60%-90% of the time they aren't main stage heroes, so they stay off the podium. They weren't even at the desolation of Ba'al only reason I know that is 1 sentence is given to explain that they aren't there.
*Exorcists=5 These guys have a fair bit of standalone lore they are fun but scary.
*Carcharodons=6 Love these guys not a lot of lore but at least they have books plural about them.
Nova Marines=7 These guys could have been 6 and prolly should be as they have more lore dedicated to them than the Carcharodons. They are featured in the Dark Imperium Trilogy in every book so again these guys should prolly be 6 but I like the shark dudes.
*Fire Hawks=8 The are just funny for the memes if you know you know.
Mantis Warrior= 9 lots of good lore here some books more than others above them in this list however this list takes into account prevalence in the fan base talks about mantis warriors which is not a lot. In fact, they are talked about so little in my circles I'd put them lower if only for the fact that the other chapters below have less lore.
Raptors=10 I wish they were higher. These guys are getting more love recently as they are cool. However, you'd only be able to know about the from this and the 3rd war for Armageddon.
Executioners=11 These guys I literally only remember because they fought Necrons at Carrion deep, and I love to see Necrons get dicked on. Part of the reason I love the Carcharodons they have a whole book dedicated to dicking on the Necrons. It's really a secluded bit of lore tho.

  2. So i saw the picture that was put up about all the space marine chapters involved in the badab war but couldn't read the names, so i looked it up APPARENTLY someone made a explained badly version of it, thought it be funny to bring up as a possible picture to use at the end of the parts as a fun "hey, heres how other people explain it" thing

  3. Funny thing, the novamarines are to the ultramarines what the flesh tearers are to the blood angels or the black templars are to the imperial fists. They are arguably the most prevalent of the ultramarines successor chapters.

However writing stories about ultramarine successor chapters is absolutely pointless because they’re all the fucking same as the ultramarines. So they have barely any lore since there’s no point.

  4. The lesson I take from the Badab War so far is: in the grimdark future, taxation is still theft.

But this does raise the question of whether or not Guilleman is pro taxes, or if he just does them because it is necessary

  5. Chaos wanted the battle to go on…Not cause the battle would feed them. In the grand scheme…that battle is just one more little thing..Rather it destabilizes ther area..instead of patroling the Malestorm the defenders were fighting the Imperium..and thusa they can more easily raid

  6. Normal people following the Adeptus Astartes that conquered their planet: Your punishment will be seven generations of slavery, how dare you betray the Imperium?!

The Adeptu Mechanicus, fully equipped to resist to Adeptus Astartes, still choosing to supply the separatists with weapons and ressources: I'm sorry to disturb you, my Lord, may I give you this compensation for the skirmish on your borders?

    Imperium's justice XD

  7. Honestly, the Imperium sounds a lot like the USSR, I saw a video recently about the most decorated soldier of the USSR during WW2, who spent a lot of time in the jails of the USSR. His crime? Telling his superiors that the soviet vattle doctrines for the fighters were outdated and detrimental to the war effort.
He would be released when his superiors realized that the doctrines for the fighters were outdated and reformed them XD

  8. heard a theory the random chaos ship was the Inquisition as the inquisitor involved at the time really didn't like huron and I believe later on after the war he "acquired" most of the region

  9. 18:30 On the whole, pulling from fleets you can't afford to remove, I truly believe the "Battle Fleet SOLAR Reserves" would have been enough of a rubber stamp for authenticity, that you had truly pissed off the High Lords, but that was both ignored and kind of an "Alien's Newt" thrown in, to boot.
"These are the best the Imperium has!"
    "It won't make any difference……"
