Labor’s EV strategy falls short

Labor’s electric vehicle strategy is set to fail as estimates suggest fewer than a third of new cars bought by 2030 will be battery-operated.

The Federal Transport Department calculates EVs will make up 27 per cent of sales.

These numbers are well below the 89 per cent prediction.

The 89 per cent figure was based on Anthony Albanese’s pre-election policies, such as EV tariff and tax exemptions.

EVs will also only make up 5 per cent of the nation’s small vehicle fleet by 2030, which is a third below predictions.

  2. Hardly a surprise. Most EV manufactures have dropped production back as consumers back off buying them owning several issues that make then unattractive to purchase. Of course Bowen hasn't read the news and continues on none the less.
