TC: Our Howl thug squad on the Pythium fort is one of the really cool things that this nation can do. The fancier version involves Soul Vortex, which we don't have yet, and at least one of the thugs holding an AOE weapon like a thunder whip.
A square of tanky, regenerating mages with all resistances can kill even medium armies with hundreds of troops, a dozen mages and a communion; it's very hard to target the thugs with magic while there's infinite Howl wolves to kill that are probably closer to the caster, and while they only have 18MR, the thugs have such high protection and Mossbody and elemental resistances that they're really quite hard to kill with anything that isn't MR negates. Meanwhile, Howl will slowly pick off enemy mages.
This sort of formation was a core part of our pregame strategy, but we've been unable to use it fully due to extremely limited Earth gems and thus hammer forging capacity (there's a world where we found 5E more and 5A less where the first turn of the war involved hitting 4 provinces with these squads). You'll see some of these run into Pythium formations over the next few turns.
The magic phase attack with two Elementals was intended to clear the way for future thug use by killing Pythium's rare A1S1 randoms. We were not particularly worried about foul vapors, just trying to cut the Pythium capital off from his armies in Agartha while killing his counter raiders.
We didn't test but had we done so, we should have put Reinvigoration boots on our A2D2s; with that they'd have woken up and made enough undead to prevent the rout.
Also, we were still having Twiceborn logistics issues so one of the mages used this turn was killed permanently.
It was interesting to see the Pythium/Agartha battle this turn; our scouts missed it somehow, so we didn't know how it came to pass that this army lost all its chaff.
But I bet Pythium is now really feeling the loss of the chaff army that was caught by our Wraith Sword thug.
The Arcosephale capture of the forest was negotiated by him threatening us and complaining about our far higher gem income. Eyes of God is very bad for us, since it revealed our very high gem income and discount sites; this resulted in some players' attention being focused on us rather than the scaling blood powers.
We may eventually plot revenge against Arcosephale… But the current plan is to put up EBDW together with them.
While we felt we could defend against Arcosephale had they attacked, we really didn't want another war until we've finished Pythium, given the loss of half of our sacreds and the risk of other nations deciding it's free land time in the Midgard area; I felt it a very high risk that Pangaea would decide to try to seize that area from us while we are sieging Pythium, or Xibalba go for the Throne of Water, and were keeping a number of both real and fake/inflated (~3 Effigies of War) garrisons on other borders in order to show that we had armies at home and weren't food.
And we really wanted that global, even if temporarily, to let us make a proper set of hammers to properly use our national forge bonus.
Now with Gath also deciding to join Xib and Ery in removing Arco he is absolutely certainly finished. I will be super surprised to see him survive this coalition war.
But I am surprised Gath doesn't wants to eat Agartha, it will be so easy for him to do that. But I guess Utgard takes priority.
Gath. Interestingly, Marignon play last turn where he sacrificed his xbows allowed me to break the walls in 1 turn using carrion reanimation for 8 gems. Even though they die from holy fire on Mari cap, speed is all that matters
Rude! Confusing Warpc (Pangea) and Maven (Gath)? 🙊 Sure a "W" looks like an upside down "M", but otherwise their names look nothing alike! 😡 Edit: Adding /s 😅
Vaettiheim looks set to roll Utgard with minimal losses so their status as the first real coalition survivor is pretty much assured. Not that the coalition really lasted that long with Xibalba dropping out. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how Arco handles Erytheia and Xibalba. From what we've seen so far I'm expecting them to outplay both to a degree though it's hard to know whether that will be enough. Fun times coming there. I'll be very interested to see who Pangaea picks a fight with next too.
Also pangea got waaay more out of the war against mari than gath did. Especially cuz they had initially said Gath would get the majority of winnings cuz Pan got alot of Mictlan winnings. Id be pretty annoyed if I were Gath
Oh boy oh boy
Nice, will there be a huge fight… hope so
Here we fucking go

Can we get face cam of this ever handsome Sy? I'm envisioning a voluptuous brain dripping with moist liquids.. Little sugar on top of the cupcake?

You guys have got to stop bitching about rules stuff that you covered at length already.
