Overwatch 2 Makes No Sense

The bizarre game that is Overwatch 2 is finally in players hands, it went straight to the top of Twitch then of course dropped back to reality. The big question is, why has it taken them YEARS to push a beta for not that big of a difference to the first Overwatch some might say. Let us know your thoughts on all of this!

  1. There’s a reason the player count dropped the more competitive the game was perceived, especially with the removal of multiple heroes and balancing targeted at OWL.

The bigger issue is that OW’s meta for years and years was just not fun (tank meta, wait for ults etc). The objectives are dull, maps are chokepoint heavy, matches turn into steamrolls easily, the game demands an unreasonable amount of coordination just to function when playing with randoms and most importantly the game funnels players into very limited play styles and does not reward experimentation. This is what killed the game, alongside a toxic community who were effectively told to be more competitive by the devs.

  2. There is zero justification for them withholding content so they can bring out a ''big'' patch (actually not that big) and call it Overwatch 2. Instead of having this shitshow they could have released this content in chunks like they did before. The lack of new content killed Overwatch. We used to get some new content every 2 months. A few maps and heroes every year. Now because of ''Overwatch 2'' it's several years of no content followed by 1 like two new maps and one new hero.
Complete waste of development time. They had several heroes under development that were ready or close to ready to be released and it all got put on the backburner so they can remake the game and fuck around with 5v5.

  3. Overwatch 2 is like Fifa games. No one gave a shit about it anymore then Blizzard did a balance patch, slapped a 2 onto the logo/name and suddenly people come back.

Overwatch 2 is a glorified balance patch.

  4. I was top 500 for several seasons, beginning back when dive was the meta, it was still very difficult to do much on the DPS in said meta but to me it felt like the very best overwatch was at, extremely fast paced, huge plays with flashy characters & very satisfying gameplay in the highest ELO, it required extreme teamwork sadly and thats the biggest issue in overwatch, I was a great IGL in overwatch, but the game requiring hardcore communication & working together really makes the game incapable of being a huge game both on twitch & for the average playerbase. IMO ofcourse

  5. For years, Overwatch was abandoned. Recycled events year after year, recoloured skins as "exclusives", and now Overwatch "2" is here – Tanks and Supports got screwed some more, the issues weren't fixed, and …. really, this is what they abandoned Overwatch for???

  6. Why cant we have a game with decent balance that makes use of all players on a team? Its not a FFA. Its a team based game. What good is having one player who can get hella kills if he doesnt play point and throws the match? Why have a team at all if you dont emphasize it? Just pit everyone against each other and go home. It has the same pointless outcome. Just delete all of your supports. They have no purpose in a game that doesnt push team based play.

  7. You did have to pay for the first overwatch, so the idea that people assumed overwatch 2 wasn't free to play wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

  8. New gaming is what drove me back to old gaming. Playing Knights of the Old Republic and Monkey Island is infinitely better and cheaper than buying shitty remakes of games that had no soul when they were made in the first place.

  9. Fair enough that most people play a handful of maps. But I'd argue that there isn't much harm in throwing those extra less desirable maps, especially if they are just removed from matchmaking rotation. Those extra maps could make for some good fun in custom lobbies.

  10. "Overwatch 2 Broke Record on Twitch" is incredibly misleading. This is like Ion putting a new 6 month subscriber FOMO mount in the game then telling investors that WoW subscriptions are up, or designing systems to punish you for not playing every week then claiming the game is more healthy and active than ever because look at those weekly active users!

  11. Am I the only one who thinks the overall graphic and UI changes are worse than in the first Overwatch game? I dunno what it is but I get this "mobile game vibe" from it.
