  1. If you had the thought of selling it maybe you just that particular one that's not too inspiring for you. SELL IT!
The only LP i have is an old Epiphone, it was my second guitar ever and I had the pots/pickups placed ages ago (because the stock ones are muddy trash). Its just so solid and reliable, the frets are flat af, but it plays really wanna and i can beat the shit out of it lol.
But I have an actual Gibson SG and yeah I like it WAY more.

  2. The problem with les pauls is solely that prs exists, but the new modern "lite" one has me admiring them. Something thinner, a really simple build, I find that lovely, and prs isn't very good at doing things conservatively like that.

  3. I think you answered your own question: you are a Strat guy. Who cares if it gives you some little other thing every once in a while. Go back home to your Strat and focus on some music. Just my 2 cents.

  4. I have to say, your Standard is just starting to look really nice. If the neck gets sticky, clean it with some D'Addario Shine Spray Cleaner or something. I know this seems obvious but it works for me on my Les Paul every couple of weeks. Maybe a Plek service would also revive the playability for you.
In terms of Gibson eras, I have a '21 LP Standard 50s – AAA Ice Tea and an Explorer Antique Natural. They are both fantastic guitars and I am fortunate to have a flagship Gibson Custom Shop retailer at my doorstep for comparison. In my opinion, people are too quick to generalize based on their experience with one guitar. Try out the 50s St with P90 in Tobacco Burst and tell me that isn't a fantastic LP.

  5. Really like your more laid-back melodic playing at the start. This video made me laugh out loud: basically a spoken version of the mental monologue I suspect we all go through from time to time.

  6. If you don't need to get rid of it, keep it! It looks and sounds amazing. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that I can't predict which of my guitars is going to feel right for me at any point. They all have something unique to offer.

  7. Les Paul’s aren’t the best guitar, but they are the coolest and my favorite. If I had one I would just hang it on the wall and be like that thing is so cool, and then go play a Tele.

  8. I think you should put hotter pickups on the LP. Your choice to go milder was an attempt to turn your LP into a Strat, and it lost that battle. Make the LP an aggressive rock god machine, and then it will fill a different role than your Strsts.

  9. What I've always said is, close your eyes and play the guitar like you have no idea what it is. If it still feels and plays the best to you, then it's your guitar. If you have any doubts, you shouldn't be keeping it.

  10. Les Paul's are amazing guitars…..but they shine when the volume is beyond 6 or 7 on a good tube amp and the notes are being squeezed and hammered out of it, not fluffed over. There's nothing like a screaming Les Paul. but very few people can make it scream. Listen to "Deuce" on kiss alive 1 and you will know what I'm talking about. Love watching you play…you make it look too easy.

  11. I played LP for like 10 years, then went Strat, then Tele, if I was to buy a dual humbucker guitar today it’d be a PRS, probably the McCarty 245 or the DGT, LP is just too heavy, and the front strap button is always in a weird angle when your standing, idk, plus I went through like 5 pickups and the neck always sounded bass heavy and dark, which wasn’t my cup of tea, currently still prefer Tele pickups for the best balance
