  4. Honestly convinced that any story that says "I did some research and came to the conclusion it was a wendigo" is AI written. Every time same with a lot of skinwalker stories usually this set of stories has been pretty good on not having much of that kind of nonsense though.

  18. I couldn't see what it was, but I could see it's eyes staring at me. It was 2016, I had moved to the Big Island Hawaii for a while to get away from the Bay Area stress. While living in the Puna district, I learned of a secret lake on the top of mauna kea known to locals for historical reasons as myth related to Pele and her sister. I had driven to the top of mauna kea a few times to experience the elevation increase and cold temperatures above the cloudline, but I had never gone walking on the trails before. On the full moon of July 2016, I drove up in the middle of the night at about 2am and I hiked by moonlight to where I knew lake waiau was. What a surreal experience, it looked like I was walking on the moon itself with silver hills and canyons cast in dark blue hues from the moonlight. When I found the lake I was ecstatic, even though it is no more than a shallow glacial pond that accumulates water from snow melt and cloud condensation at such a high altitude. While sitting at the lake edge and pondering existence, and looking out over the valley of saddle road to see enornous shadow of mauna loa in the background, I noticed the eyes. There is very little to no wildlife at this elevation, and the landscape is mostly barren volcanic rock features. But there they were, about 100 yards away, large and glistening, and watching me. Every few seconds they would blink but never trained on anything other than me sitting opposite side of the water from whatever it was. The presence was ominous, the elevation was pretty extreme, the air was thin and around 28 degrees F, and I was somewhat frozen in fear of what was happening. The energy of whatever it was reminded me of the feeling I got when I hiked Mt. Shasta in California and felt as though a bear might be stalking me. But thats the thing about Big Island, predators like that aren't around to consider. I could not tell if it didn't want me there, but I could def tell that it was fascinated I was there by the fact that the eyes didnt vanish until about 5 minutes before I left. The only reason I did leave after that 5 minutes of waiting for the eyes to go away was because I felt like I could safely hike back to my car with my back turned to the lake, given the eyes vanished and weren't staring me down anymore. The whole experience lasted about 2 hours. What it was could be anyone's guess, I found a few interesting objects in pictures I took that night but nothing conclusive aside from what looked like a human aparition of sorts on the ridgeline of a cindercone. Whatever I met up there at the lake in the sky, it def seemed beyond the normal stuff we are aware of and accustomed to.
