  1. Having a look at gen 7, something I haven't done in years, I think Incineroar, Crabominable, Turtonator, Bruzish and Tapu Bulu are my worst 5. Honourable mentions go out to Type: Null, Oranguru, Tsareena and Bewear I guess. Type Null is annoying because you can make something that was haphazardly made by people in universe while not making it look like complete trash. I can't help but laugh at Bewear, the pink head and black everything else just looks dumb. I really like Steenee, but Tsareena pretty much ruins it by becoming a t-rex. And Oranguru is the worst monkey in Pokemon, there's no point to it or Passimian. But at least Passimian looks a little better.

  2. My personal least favourite was Alolan Persian. Like, I get the whole “big headed cat with too much pride” angle but it’s like they just ran an image of Kantonian Persian through Photoshop and called it a day.

  3. One thing I can say in defense of Alolan Raticate:

Raticate, IMO, is a design that works perfectly. He's meant to give the idea of a wuss that wants to think it's tough. Makes sense, since he's not meant to be a very strong Pokemon, and with a fat body, a cumbersome jaw and teeeeeeny tiiiiiny arms, he looks the part of a wimp, in general, and frankly I find it adorable.

Alolan Raticate, more or less, is the Wario version. Instead of those traits being reversed, they are exaggerated. He's even fatter, has an even more cumbersome jaw, has teeeeeenier tiiiiinier arms and, what do you know, he's even WORSE competitively. Just, he tries so hard to be intimidating, the poor thing, but he falls so far flat that it's not even funny. …Scratch that, it IS funny. 🙂

Just my two cents on Alolan Raticate. And if I have to be honest… Alolan Raticate is one of the only designs I DO like in Gen 7. Gen 7 is my absolute least favorite generation. They went WAY overboard with the stick figures, and it even comes off as insulting when they made the Tapus, Pheremosa, Xurktree, Celesteel with her A@#$#%@# neck, Blaphelcon, Kartana, etc. completely broken and overpowered, but then make this massive, imposing, intimidating demon mouth with multiple arms and massive body completely WORTHLESS competitively. It's like "Oh, you don't like stick figures? You like big, imposing characters? Well F@#$ YOU!!!" Honestly, A. Raticate and Guzzlord were the only two designs I even sorta liked. Maybe Bewear, too, since he's kinda cute.

Gen 2 was previously my least favorite because it just felt kinda "meh" in general for me. Gen 8 had even less Pokemon I liked, but less Pokemon that pissed me off, too, so I'd still put it above Gen 7.

  4. Palosand and Sandygast were both my favorite pokemon when I played S/M personally. I get why people don't care much for them. By the way Ed, any chance you can look into the kickstarter for Dokimon? It looks rad and plans to be an RPG Maker engine but for monster collection games.

  5. Bruxish not a fan of that fish Pokemon it looks werid with the teeth and uncanny,Alolan Graveler looks mad and doesn't look that good with all the hair,Alolan Persion is bad to its fat head makes it look worse, and Oricoro you know the birds with 4 different forms on each different island those designs are crappy.

  6. old pokemon fans stop being obsessed about voicing your opinion on how you think modern pokemon is bad challenge difficulty impossible. Pallosand vipes gen 1 cope

  7. Bruxish would be Number One for me in Gen 7, and one of the only Pokémon I actively dislike. It’s just that hideous.
And I love Sandyghast/Pallosand it’s so cute so I totally disagree there!

  8. Crabominable might be the only gen 7 pokemon I dislike. I really enjoy pretty much all the other new pokemon, gen 7 is definitely one of my favorite gens.

  9. Lists would probably look like this for me:

    Worst:
    10. Alolan Persian: very interesting movepool but unfortunately that design is super hideous
    9. Pheromosa: just a weird and uncomfortable design imo
    8. Alolan Rattata: unnecessary for it to even exist; doesn't add anything interesting to the design
    7. Bruxish: same reasons you listed
    6. Alolan Graveler: same as Alolan Rattata
    5. Alolan Raticate: worse than the original design by a considerable margin
    4. Dartrix: I just hate this design; it might actually be my all time least favorite middle stage Pokemon
    3. Alolan Dugtrio: a stupid concept made worse by terrible design sense resulting in a tragic outcome; normally I'm ok with a Pokemon's appearance not making their typing super obvious but this was a lazy and unacceptable attempt
    2. Alolan Diglett: literally Alolan Dugtrio but somehow even lazier and worse
    1. Toucannon: literally my all time most hated Pokemon. I like Pipipek so this abomination was a huge disappointment. Design-wise it's literally just an angry cartoon toucan and it doesn't even have any interesting things it can. do in battle to salvage it. It's a cluster of bad concepts that didn't fit together well at all. Would have loved to see something that looked more like Galarian Zapdos.

    Favorites:
    10. Magearna: just an interesting design to me with cool typing and can do some somewhat interesting things in battle
    9. Celesteela: I love this design and it has such a cool movepool
    8. Araquanid: cool design, interesting ability and acceptable movepool
    7. Vikavolt: my second favorite early game bug evolution to date (Orbeetle is first), cool typing, fun battle strat potential
    6. Minior: interesting associated story and ability, cool mixed attacker this is mainly so high due to how fun it is to use in battle
    5. Golispod: annoying but potentially useful ability and decent enough movepool coupled with a really cool design
    4. Decidueye: an owl archer that's all I should need to say for you to understand why it's so high
    3. Solgaleo: one of my favorite legendaries design-wise it just checked every box a legendary needed to check for me
    2. Poipole: really mastered that fairy-like mythical pokemon-like look that Pokemon does so well. Its a darn shame it's evolution was a bit lackluster in comparison to Poipole's very strong design.
    1. Alolan Marowak: quite possibly my favorite regional variant to date. The changes weren't even that major if you really look at it but they were so well done it doesn't matter. As an added bonus to this great design, Alolan Marowak is no slouch in battle either

  10. Personally I really love Palossand, I know the 'object possessed by ghost' can seem overdone, but I think possessing a sand castle makes a lot of sense within the lore of 'luring in children' much like Drifblim. There are a few other cool details I like, Palossand has 'palace' in its name, the concept kind of fits in with common childhood fear of quicksand which we have not seen in pokemon before, it's shiny looks both gorgeous and like some real types of sand, and finally the way its little shovel-head on top of it rotates like a radar/satellite dish. A really cool and well thought out Mon imo.

  11. That's fair, Gym Leader Ed. Most of the Gen 7 pokemon had a lot of good designs. But, there are a few bad ones.

    5. Crabominable is goofy looking and I actually like it, Crabrawler evolutionary line deserves a regional form and maybe a redesign on Crabominable for regional form might help.
    4. Bruxish is disappointing didn't had a evolution, it's like a similar situation with Relicanth not having evolutionary line again. Really, no pre evolution of Bruxish? Another Pokedex waste of space again? Seriously, give Bruxish a evolution or pre evolution to feel complete.
    3. Alolan Ratatat evolutionary line is okay designs and at least had effort to make it different than Diglett evolutionary line regional forms.
    2. Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio, it is weird they not popular pokemon and insist giving regional forms and still making a annoying pokemon during pokemon hunts.
    1. Sandygast and Pallosand is a pretty good pokemon. But, wish they weren't slow and didn't take a while to evolved.

Before the Let's Go games was obviously going to be Kanto remakes. It is weird they didn't fixed the type coverages for the games and felt very rush.
Alolan forms wished to existed before the Kanto remake/spin off games. Spoilers, they'll be lots of Water types coverage for the list.

    1. Alolan Lapras (Water/Fairy type)
    2. Alolan Dratini, Dragonair and Dragonite (Water/Dragon type)
    3. Alolan Zubat, Golbat and Crobat (Ghost/Flying type)
    4. Alolan Cubone (Fire/Ghost type) for Alolan Marowak.
    5. Alolan Aerodactyl (Dragon/Flying type) a purified fossil brought back in the modern world.
    6. Alolan Ekans and Arbok (Poison/Water type) invasive pokemon species adaptation in the coastal area
    7. Alolan Spearrow and Fearrow (Flying/Dark type)
    8. Alolan Seel and Dewgong (Water/Normal type)
    9. Alolan Doduo and Dodrio (Grass/Fire type) based on Emus and Cassowaries with fiery temper.

Alolan form Pokemon wish existed and not from Gen 1.

    1. Alolan Wailmer and regional evolution (Water/Ice or Fairy/Water type), a new regional evolution based on the humpback whale really match Hawaiian waters.
    2. Alolan Torkoal and regional evolution (Fire/Water type), a Alolan Torkoal looking a mini volcano and it's regional evolution is a large monster tortoise with steam spewing out it's nostrils.
    3. Alolan Cactunea and regional evolution (Grass/Fire type), both based on cactus living on volcanic rocks.
    4. Alolan Skorpi and Drapion (Water/Bug type) based on the sea scorpions.
    5. Alolan Ducklett and Swanna (Ice/Flying type)
    6. Alolan Yamask and regional evolution (Ghost/Fire type) based on Tiki mask with ghostly body.
    7. Alolan Trapinch, Vibrava and Flygon (Dragon/Bug type)
    8. Alolan Woobat and Swoobat (Fairy/Flying type)
    9. Alolan Skitty and regional evolution (Normal/Fairy type)
    10. Alolan Murkrow and regional evolution (Ghost/Flying type)
    11. Alolan Dwebble and Crustle (Ghost/Rock type) based on ghost crabs in a sculptured stone house that looks haunted.
    12. Alolan Chimchou and Lantern (Ghost/Electric type) they are simply paler blue with ghostly blue glow on their antenna lures.
    13. Alolan Snubull and Granbull (Fairy/Fighting type)
    14. Alolan Aipom and Ambipom (Fighting/Psychic type)
    15. Alolan Azurill, Marill and Azumarill (Water/Grass type), it be cool they are based on swamp rats and rabbits.
