Come November, Singapore is set to launch its largest test of the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, which allows a two-way flow of electricity between the batteries of electric vehicles and the power grid. The three-year pilot could help Singapore meet the increasing demand for electricity. 15 commercial vans and 10 V2G-enabled electric vehicle chargers will be part of the test, led by STRIDES in Punggol. Mr Chen Xin-wei, deputy general manager and head of technology and development of STRIDES Frontiers, shared more about the equipment and infrastructure required.

Just improve the EV adoption first as Singapore is so behind. Why focus on V2G now? Haven't learn how to walk and now trying to fly.

Stupid idea, wears out battery quick with charge/discharge.
Why are we not focusing on helping industry who are the largest users of energy be more energy efficient. EV vehicles as mobile batteries is not a very efficient use of technology or resouces. There will also be wear and tear and loss of energy in just the charge, discharge in reverse. It would make more sense for Industry to have large stores of batteries onsite for them to charge and use. With this technology, the risks of miss use and fires will indoubtly increase just like with residents charging their over charging their mobility devices.
Question. Why would one "take out" the electric from one car?.
I am confused.
If you top up a full tank of petrol, why you pump out the petrol just because you don't need that much for that day?

why would i want to discharge my battery to supply the grid? After taking time to charge up in the first place? what group of vehicles is this targeting?
Charge and discharge batteries will degrade the battery faster. Every cycle counts.
Doesn't make sense to carry around a power bank to power my house π€―. The additional weight of larger capacity batteries in vehicles would make them less efficient.
Whatever for. Only makes sense when massive solar and wind energy is present. For Singapore total nonsense. Increases energy loss and degrades the battery . Bad for the climate .
Wouldnβt the constant siphoning of electricity going to really really quickly reduce the life span of the L-ion batteries?

Even the head of development cannot really explain the value of this… It sounds like a project to help paint the image of that we are progressing towards carbon-free target.
It's time consuming enough to charge, and then waste time to go discharge to the grid??

Using individual solar or renewable excess energy to be sold back to the grid is logical but this is illogical.
Keep a small fuel gen in car, can charge anytime. Run forever without depending on charging points..
