I rode Rise of the Resistance 30 times in 30 days. In the process, I learned A LOT. A lot more than I was expecting to. I learned when to get in the queue. When not to. How long I should expect to wait. What are the best times of day to try, and the best times to avoid. And in the end, weโll answer the questionโฆis Rise of the Resistance the big scary monster we thought it was, or is it more like every other attraction at Disneyland?

Went on this ride twice in a day on a Monday in August. The wait times were about 30-60 minutes each. I guess it was a pretty good day, and if youโre with a group of friends or family chatting and laughing the whole time, it feels like 20 minutes. I adored the ride as a huge Star Wars fan lol. Iโm technically a โlocalโ but I only go to Disney once every few years. The wait was perfect.
Amazing video. Thank you David ๐
Love the long shot from the ride vehicle at the end!
How long after the reopen will the app indicate it is open?
You know, in case I'm in a shop or at ronto's
I don't know how you did 30 rides. I tried twice yesterday and didn't make it to the Rey room before the ride broke down each time.
What an amazing video
Disney Science
Is there a maximum amount of time that someone can hang out in the Hangar Bay? Could we stay there and take pictures for a while? Or would they tell us to keep moving?
I found this very interesting and fun to watch!! Thanks
Great recon! I have suffered thru the, just missed beating LL horror lines, AVOID when you see it! i totally agree with the part about, Section 1-3, just go for it! What's a less than an hour queue at Disneyland?
Great video! I canโt wait for the radiator springs one.
Great video, great data. Thanks! One question. You mark the Rey Room as the end of the wait, because Disney considers this the end. The WDW data folks at Touring Plans consider the end when you get in the actual ride vehicle. Obviously this could make a big difference in posted vs. actual. From where did you hear that Disney considers the Rey Room as the wait time end? Do you think WDW and DL could have different official wait time end points? Thanks again!
Iโve been lucky enough to catch it right after a breakdown a few times.
You're the goat for doing this
Best we have had was15 minute wait (i timed it) back in May when we got there about 30 minutes before park closure. I counted our wait time to reach the Rey room…guess we got lucky!
exceptional analysis!
I went to Disneyland on Thursday 10/19. I have a key so I go quite a bit. I started going to Disneyland in 1965. Anyway on Thursday I have never seen the park so empty. I went through the gate at 805am. I walked onto the following rides with really no wait time. Jungle Cruise, Indy, next Pirates, did have 40 minutes wait time for Haunted, walked over to Peter Pan and then Mr. Toad. and Matterhorn. Left the park at 11am via the Monorail. It was the best morning ever. But also creepy because of really very little people around.
I love people with data. Good video. Earned my like.
I like this video but I'm sad that it's now a necessary video for Disneyland. I miss the days when Disney cared about the guest experience instead of squeezing every last dollar from them.
Great video David! As a local I have 2 rules for when I will ride rise
1. The line is in or almost in the cave
2. I see it go down, I grab some food and go eat out front and then virtually walk on
Wow, what a comprehensive analysis of this ride queue! Definitely gives me more information then just the posted wait time, great job!!!
Not all heros wear capes
I agree with breakdowns. We were just going up to the employees to ask about the ride and how much longer they expected it to be down. They said they were just opening it. There was 5 other people by us and we rushed in. We ended up getting our own ride vehicle with lucky timing.
This breakdown the data video reminds me of the fast pass data study by (I think) defunctland). Kudos and thanks for your service. Most helpful for the quandary and solving the rise puzzle.
This is the most helpful video Iโve ever seen on Disney ๐
Pretty much a waste of time I'm good with one and done you have way too much time on your hands
Getting my phd in queue science
We definitely think going 30-60 mins before ride closes at 10 because we feel like the line goes a lot faster and they rush as many people through the ride so they can close it or something but that might be just us thinking that ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
We had 7 tries to ride in 2 days. Everytime we tried to come back to redeem our pass it had just broken down again.
This was incredibly entertaining and insightful. Thank you!
Awesome and informative video. Well done. Thank you.
How much of a time and distance difference is there by walking thru the castle and Fantasyland, starting from the Hub, and going to either the first or second tunnel, while heading to ROTR (be it at rope drop or any other time)?
Your average wait time was 42? So it's possible that the ultimate question to life the universe and everything is what is the average wait time of Rise of the Resistance? Sorry, I can never resist a Hitchhiker's Guide reference. ๐
That is some amazing data! Love it. ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Iโm sure these types of videos are incredibly laborious, in terms of data and math and time investment. But I think this is the best Disneyland video Iโve ever watched. No one else is offering this kind of nerdy data and I love it. Youโve uncovered a fascinating niche. Hoping for more. Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic recon video. Looking forward to the others you do. Though i dont envy you waiting in Radiator Springs standby queue!๐
I hope this stays true when my family and I go after Christmas this year.
I can concur. While David pretty much uses the scientific method, my anecdotal experience was getting a black caf at Docking Bay 7, then getting in a 45min queue for Rise and end up having to suck down the last 1/3rd of the coldbrew because we were already into the Rey room in under 30.
ride broke down, we waited half hour on the floor, than entered the first shuttle all the screens were working but no Audio ๐
Number 1,000 on your likes! Love th channel and love the content always in the park and always like to hear your points on the company.
Excellent video David. Very informative ๐ Thank you!
Definitely loved this, looking to go away this summer and I hope thereโs more videos like this before then to optimize my trip ๐
Last time I rode ride, I totally lucked out, as I had no plans, just decided to head to Galaxyโs edge in a whim after lunch in Adventureland. I happened to get there just a couple minutes after they reopened Rise post breakdown without realizing it, just saw people walking pretty quickly through the line, so I figured, hey, why not! That was a good day in galaxyโs edge!
Your work reached a new level with this video. Amazing job, dude!
Been waiting for this vlog and u didnโt disappoint! Appreciate the science of it all!
Absolutely loved this video. Your best work to date. Great information and tips to ride the best ride in Disneyland. Well Done ๐ ๐
My last trip I got to the park at noonish, got through the gate at 12:15, I checked the app and the wait time was hr +, I checed LL, and it was posted at 12:25, so I bought the Tucket ($25), got to the queue, and was let in right away. For me in LL the wait time to the rea room was 5 min (never stopped)
