How Israel’s Iron Dome Works | WSJ

Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system is designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and mortars. It’s blocked thousands of missiles since 2011, including those launched by Hamas during this past weekend’s attack. The Palestinian militant group launched an estimated 3,500 rockets from Gaza.

WSJ explains how Israel’s Iron Dome works and has a 90% success rate.

  1. Ending Israel's illegal occupation, settlement expansion on Palestinian land,

and oppression against innocent Palestinians are key for peace, justice, and prosperity in the region.

I am not surprised by today's events.

What else can one expect when Israel continues to deny Palestinians their legitimate right to self-determination and statehood?

What else after daily provocations, attacks by occupation forces and settlers,

and raids on Aqsa Mosque and other holy sites of Christianity and Islam?

The world must recognize that durable peace requires:

ending occupation of Palestinian land, recognizing the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital,

and upholding Palestinians' right to independence

  3. Everyone is impressed by the Iron Dome but people should be asking why they even need it in the first place. The answer is Hamas. Hamas is a terrorist's groups that wants to wipe out the existence of Israel. Now people are siding with them after they successfully attacked Israel.

  4. It's not theirs, it's the U.S.'s iron dome because they paid for it. This is how "Israel" has survived this long. Any other country would have had civil unrest decide its fate. Great job, Western powers. What a mess you made trying to reanimate this extinct piece of land.
