Albanese ‘giving the left a bone’ by observing at nuclear prohibition conference

The Australian’s Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan has suggested Labor are “just giving the left a bone” by sending an observer to the “ridiculous” international conference held for the abolition of all nations’ nuclear weapons.

Mr Sheridan’s comments come as a French diplomat has slammed Australia for entertaining the abolition of nuclear weapons while remaining a member of the NPT and sheltering under nuclear deterrence provided by the US.

“To appease the left, they have sent an observer to this ridiculous conference,” Mr Sheridan told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“The Albanese government as usual … found a way out by saying yes, yes, yes, we’ll do that when the timing is right.

“And the timing will be right when we can get universal abolition, in other words – never, never, never.”

  1. No Nukes would be wonderful, I'm sure we all wish they were never invented. Unfortunately they have been and our enemies have them – therefore we must too it's as simple as that.

  2. Going through old photos a few days ago from when I travelled through France back in 1996 and found a photo that I had written on the back of 'nuclear plant'. We are so behind in Australia – chasing windmills that swallow up farming land and kill our birds.

  3. This government seems to be totally out of touch with what the majority of Australians need and want.
It's like the just want to keep flogging a dead horse, blindly believing it will miraculously come back to life.

  4. Nuke prohibition was a psychosis of the left during the cold war for treacherous reasons as the weapons grade plutonium produced from the process threatened their beloved communist states

  6. The prime minister, the foreign minister together with the defence minister is an absolute disgrace and show their short comings. The sooner we get a newer government the better off Australia will be.

  7. Andrew you might like to ask the Labour Government whether or not the recent delegation that joined 240 other countries invited by Zelensky to Ukraine to discuss building Weapons Manufacturing Plants there include the building of Nuclear Weapons?
