How Ukraine’s strikes on Crimea could lead to its liberation

It is supposed to be a Russian fortress on Ukrainian soil. But Crimea – home of the Black Sea Fleet, crown jewel of Putin’s conquests in Ukraine – is being turned into a smouldering wreck by Kyiv’s forces. In the last month alone, missiles have destroyed a billion-dollar anti-aircraft system, blown up a Russian submarine, and levelled the Black Sea Fleet’s headquarters. In the process, special forces claim to have killed dozens of officers including the admiral of the fleet – though Russia has put out video seeming to confirm he is still alive. Meanwhile Ukrainian special forces have recaptured oil rigs off Crimea’s west coast, and even raised their national flag over the peninsula itself. And things could be about to get even worse, as America seems on the verge of sending long-range ATACMS missiles to Kyiv. This is the story of how Russia’s control over Crimea has been rocked by Ukrainian strikes, and how they may eventually lead to it being recaptured. This is the story of Crimea in the crosshairs.

  1. Drip feeding Ukraine forces and delaying the appropriate fighters and missiles could only see Russian forces dig in even more and arrange a massive counter offensive that could prolong this war for decades:)

  2. I don't know. I feel the reality is going to be far different. I think they won't move SAMs to Crimea because they know what will happen. But it's like with a coup. There were rumors that one of his oligarch would seize the opportunity. Well this happened and we all know how it ended.

  3. Crimea is part of Ukraine!. Everything has a price.!

The price that Ukrainians pay is not enough with everything that the West has contributed, the lives lost to defend all of Europe from the invader that threatens all Western countries.

  4. Very interesting. But the commander of the Black Sea fleet was killed. I'd bet on it. He never spoke in the zoom and looked odd. The other video they released was made before the attack. No videos whatsoever since. And now Russia is denigrating his legacy. A sure sign. The UK can be very proud of its Storm Shadows. They're awesome.

  5. I have been to Crimea many times and traveled in both Russia and Ukraine , and I am married to an Ukrainean woman: AND
I tell you : — There need to be a solution for Crimea that Russia can live with — ! – The best solution is some kind of self management like
Cypern and Greenland. US and EU should make a group investigating how this could be done. — There is some 1,3 million people in Crimea , and
there is very little rain, so the vest-area is dependent on the water from Dnepr in Ukraine. The economy in Crimea is terrible , they are dependent on
tourists and money from Ukraine/Russia. – IT WILL BE MUCH EASIER TO GET A PEACE WITH RUSSIA IF THERE IS A PLAN FOR CRIMEA THAT BOTH
UKRAINE AND RUSSIA CAN LIVE WITH

  6. It's amazing how this edition works. The cost of one c300 installation is not one billion, but 250 million dollars. That ridiculous landing in the Crimea? The guys came by boat, photographed the flag in the tourist zone, and if you also see the full video from the cameras, so this brave landing was scared of a sleepy man with a gun. The bridge was generally restored twice, and while the bridge was not working, crossings were installed, as it was before the bridge was built. The officer who was said to have died has been shown on television more than once already. And live. Alive, walking, talking calmly. The towers that didn't work were empty anyway, well done. Grab and so what's left, well, handsome. The Western media, with its cover of information, is losing its grip on something, they could have done better earlier.

  8. I've been saying for the last year that Ukraine would turn Crimea into a shooting gallery as soon as the West woke up and provided it with sufficient long-range fires. The "experts" pointed out all the assets that the Kremlin has on the peninsula and the extremely restricted access. They saw all these things — the Black Sea Fleet, the airfields full of fighter jets, the supply depots, oil storage facilities, etc. — as strengths, whilst I saw them as vulnerabilities and the Ukrainians saw them as targets.

Furthermore, the Pentagon's hesitations have spurred Ukraine into finding other ways to skin the Russian cat. From aerial drones, to wheeled drones, to surface drones, and now to submarine drones, they're inventing novel low-cost solutions to their limitations that others just didn't see coming. That's why they're going to win.

  9. There is an investor rule: the crowd is always wrong! If the crowd is heckling, it's not something you wanted to do. Your audience is stupid people who can be manipulated. It's a pity that there is a lot of false information here. Ukrainian military commanders send their people to certain death, they do not know what is really happening at the front, that Ukraine has not recently conquered but has lost more lands, and this at the cost of almost 100 thousand Ukrainian military personnel. For what? For the sake of a bunch of billionaires from the US and EU who profit from the war? What did they do for their people?
