An RCMP officer was killed, two more were wounded and the suspect was shot in Coquitlam on Friday as officers executed a search warrant in a private home.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were searching a home near the intersection of Pinetree Way and Glen Drive in the Metro Vancouver city before 10 a.m., when an “altercation” began between police and a civilian, according to B.C. RCMP.
In the course of that altercation, RCMP said multiple officers were injured and the suspect was shot.
Const. Rick O’Brien, 51, was killed.
“This is an extremely difficult and tragic day for our members at Ridge Meadows detachment, Coquitlam RCMP where this incident occurred, and the greater RCMP and RCMP family,” said B.C. RCMP Deputy Comm. Dwayne McDonald in a Friday press conference.

I am so sad. On my way to Maple Ridge from Mission. I had no idea what happened. . I saw the procession and I’ve never seen anything like it before. had I known what it was about? I don’t know if I could have travelled anymore. I’m so proud of our police. The procession was extreme and beautiful. My heart goes out. 😢❤

Sincere condolences 💐 loss of human life I always a shame.
But there’s alot of shame the rcmp should have: just maybe the shooter, is guilty of homocide but nothing criminal; ring a bell Myles gray rip. The rcmp were largely responsible in being the thug arm of their political masters, in child abductions, circa residential schools. They oppressed and oppress the ordinary people. With their blind obedience to following immoral orders. They always try to incite violence among protesters, and infiltrate undercover to do so. The other side of the coin is the good they do do in catching criminals. Too bad they don’t create a special peoples unit to investigate political and white collared crime….I guess not enough funds or intent?
