Murica!!!!! 🤷🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
IF it's true & provable that the Goggle Maps people were told .MANY times about the collapsed bridge & they did no correction to their product, then SUE the company, & SCREW their bogus apology!
Come on now. There are "bridge out" signs on the roadway. He was drinking before driving I bet. How do you not notice THAT!
Remember MapQuest…..
Nothing shows on Waze either, and users can post warnings there (I don't use Google Maps, Waze is owned by Google but is far better).
The original developers company dissolved so the current private OWNERS should be sued.
No one claims internet maps are suitable for driving without looking ahead so it will be a tough court battle likely ending in a settlement to end the publicity.
The property owners could have put a berm, a couple of posts with some Armco cut from the wreckage, a pile of rubble etc and blocked the road in an afternoon for a thousand dollars or less. The locals know to look where they're going and would swiftly know the bridge is out that being a low-speed road, but most people don't really look where they're driving.
Per a news article, the victim was driving at night. The bridge is on a private road, and the developer is no longer in business. Troopers who responded to the scene said there were no barriers or signs indicating that the bridge was out. Also, the family is suing other defendants, including property managers.
Reminiscent of 1988 in Connecticut. Only somehow the jersey barrier was somehow moved and 4 young adults went over a bridge into water.
BTW, the only truly responsible person is the one who wasnt watching the road in front of them.
They about to get paid $$
If there's an uneven sidewalk in my town, they spray paint it red. before coming out and applying cold patch.
I don’t see them being successful in sueing google because they are not at fault. He should have been watching the road not looking at maps. They’ll probably be successful sueing the others though.
Why wasn’t cement barriers in place by the county or state as well 9yrs is too long for it not to be blocked!
If Google is forced to pay, I'll never give directions to anyone ever again. Who ever owns the road should be responsible. City, county, state. Not Google.
The reporter's so beautiful I lost focus on the incident she reported on!
So was he the only one, out of 9 yrs hurt?
Was his name Michael Scott?
That is unbelievable that a bridge could be gone for 9 years and NEITHER the town or google after being notified did ANYTHING in NINE YEARS! Both should be sued
I realize not everyone is like this, but I generally like to have an idea of the area I’m driving in before I go somewhere unfamiliar to me and I’m just depending on google maps to guide me. I also don’t try to find places at night where your vision may be distorted. It sounds like this man was driving with distorted vision if he went over a collapsed bridge.
Yep, google can't provide common sense google isnt responsible for a drunk dads dumb driving
Good luck w that lawsuit, that town is so broke.
Bullshit case
A tragedy but…maybe watch the road…?
Why on earth was there no barrier??
Why isn’t the road blocked off ?!!!!
Get this man a CDL.
So Google should pay for stupidity?
Google's liability is ZERO. From the EULA, which everyone acknowledges or they cannot use the service:
GOOGLE NOR ITS SUPPLIERS OR DISTRIBUTORS MAKE ANY SPECIFIC PROMISES ABOUT THE SERVICES, THE SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE SERVICES, OR THEIR RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, OR ABILITY TO MEET YOUR NEEDS. WE PROVIDE THE SERVICES “AS IS”.
Liability for our Services
THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF GOOGLE, AND ITS SUPPLIERS AND DISTRIBUTORS, FOR ANY CLAIMS UNDER THESE TERMS, INCLUDING FOR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE SERVICES.
The internet is an enhancement of life. Not a substitute for getting a life. If you are so blindly focused on what is on a smartphone and not paying attention to the real world around you then you fail Darwinism. You're too stupid to survive.
Real people live in the real world.
I guess that just proved me right once again internet is making people are dumber than a damn Rock was he not paying any attention to the damn road does that mean people is going to jump off a cliff now. Google tells them to
I mean for crying out loud people use a little bit of common sense you can eliminate a lot of that stupidity bulshit
I think it’s trumps fault!
First my deepest sympathies goes out to the family but that's why I don't depend on trust the new hi-tech because this is what happens. Give me an old school low-tech paper map any day.
Its mot Google's fault you surely cannot depend on the Internet geez are you serious 😮i mean my heartfelt condolences but no it is no one's fault here but the one driving
For 9 years not one other person drove into the water?
The only person responsible is the drive. It's tragic but even when using Google maps still need to pay attention to the road and the surrounding. He was driving home from his daughter's bday party. Something is being left out of the story.
I don’t know about suing google, the town/ city for not closing off the bridge 100% but google doesn’t seem nearly as winnable just seems they have the deepest pockets
If google told you to jump off a bridge would you do it ? Well this guy did.
GO slow until you can see where you are putting your car.
Lookimg at the picture, it seems that there are railings going over the bridge and if you were driving and it was dark you can't always see the road under you. No barriers, no signs, and a map saying make a right could all be enough to make for a bad day. Also, I think that's the point, people have complained and said it was dangerous. You could miss a bullet 100 times, but it only takes one to bring you down. They have responsibilities to ensure that no 9ne mistakenly would go over that and they didn't, and those that controlling the land didn't
He was probably driving drunk.
It’s not googles fault !!!!! It’s whoever owns the road
Wow this is stupid the government isn't taking g responsibility for leaving this road open?
