The 5th & 6th of June (1944) were picked due to Tidal Conditions and the worry about an unknown German spy spotting all of the preparations. Next favorable Tidal Conditions (but without a Full Moon) would be two weeks later.
Eisenhower decided to go on the 6th.
We got lucky, Very Lucky!!! Because when the New Moon occurred two weeks later a storm came up so bad that it sunk ships! Severally Damaged both Mulberries (artificial harbors) to the point where only one was considered worth repairing due to the amount of time it would take to repair the second one…. (They hoped to have a Channel Port captured soon.)
June 6. Six months offset from Dec 6/7.
Another one, Another one, Another great war video. thank you.
Good content
Oh my god this is what The Really Bad Thing from We Happy Few was based on…
I knew about the deceptions involving Patton, but the rest of this was news to me. Excellent episode.
Back when the History Channel actually did history.
Mincemeat was a good British deception too but Americans lost their credit after the cold war we Americans like credit for everything cuz we wait n flip the scale to b the hero
awesome documentary 🙂 kinda sad i had to use a VPN to get access to it as it seems that it's only available in Canada 🙁
Are we going to get to the Dead Guy that they floated up with secret papers
seems so crazy that this type of tactic actually worked. It seems so obvious but it just shows how the fog of war can cover up really obvious stuff.
Does it feel like we “won” WW2 or the Communist win with our help? Yea the communist won and now the whole world is on the verge of a communist takeover
Did anyone remove the gun from Heston's "cold dead hands".
In 5 years, the Allies beat the German Air Force and then had the advantage to win WW2. In the 2000s the US owned the skies but took 20 years and still couldn’t defeat a primitive enemy. You watch the documentaries and the guys are always begging for air cover.
mincemeat
Very bad narration. Felt like the narrator was just reading with no emotions attached.
The Atlantic wall could of only work if the Germans had complete and superiority like in 1941 fortunately they didn't,if they did the Allies could not even cross the channel much less invade France.
Eisenhower was worried about failure but he wasn't worried about how many thousands of human beings were killed in doing so as long as he won why he was sitting in his last comfortable air conditioning room that he was in it's easy to command somebody else to go die when you're sitting in a nice cozy room but unfortunately brainwashed human beings will do so
This whole picture was full of s***it everything they're saying is a lie everything about world war II was a lie you basically had three people that cannot get along instead of them three people fighting each other they had hundreds of thousands of people die because they were cowards to fight each other instead
The whole war was a deception the government's wanted to send down the population so they created this war to do so and that's all it was about and unfortunately idiots will follow that same seat again
Was all of the deseptive transmissions coded by Enigma?
You all need better adviser before buying property don't waist the curancy of your country people where ever you all from . What country you are born . Can you all fill out my census I think it's easy . They know from the American embacy and INS RECORDS police RECORDS. My records is not that good because of the ignorant . Star Trek alumni did the narrative
Sorry That's Moses
Facts!
The Fact that the Germans had only 6 Divisions in Normandy demonstrates how effective their Deception was against Germany.
I just wonder how such a large invasion plan was kept a secret to the Germans 6000 ships . anyway blame technology of the time aerial reconnaissance was not advanced like today
Why do people say that Rommel was a great tactician, he lost Africa.
Trivia: At about 22:43, the famous Scottish commando, Simon Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat, can be seen at the extreme right of the screen.
Rothchilds funded both sides of the war, cannon fauder is all Us sheep are. #ENDSATANTICBLOODLINES
By the middle of WWI, Canada and Australia insisted on having their own generals commanding their troops, because the British generals were reckless.
Australia had General John Monash, and Canada had General Arthur Currie. Bother were excellent generals and were knighted on their battlefields by George V.
GENERAL MARSHALL HAD DECIDED WE WOULD ONLY 99 DIVISIONS. REPLACEMENTS WOULD BE EASIER TO MANAGE. REPLACEMENTS, RATHER THAN NUMBER OF DIVISIONS.
One of these guys sounds like he's about to cry when he speaks. Poor guy. 38:45
One big error in this presentation: the Battle of the Atlantic was the MOST important battle, NOT Overlord! Without victory at sea, all else would have been impossible.

I enjoyed this video, thanks for posting. (I’d like this better with a different narrator than this over-rated ham, but that is not down to the poster of the video.)
They should have justed used my EX GF if they wanted experts at deception
Laying a million mines a month..that means they would have been making at least one million mines per month, along with everything else they were producing. And the allies produced more! It's all amazing in that aspect.
Perhaps?????
6 minute tpmato? nope
And let’s not forget Hitler’s grand strategic plan of “ war by horoscope “
Rommel used to match thru a town with miles of tanks and artillery, he would snake the line of his army around to get to the end of his troops, causing people to assume the army is way bigger than it was. It worked quite a bit.
Seems like a lot of battles we thought or assumed were just battles, there was often deception on one side or the others. Or both.
Secrets of whoor
Weird, no stupid reality show garbage, just history.
imagine todays' leaders trying to duplicate such tactics /it would be a huge fail/we see how well its going in ukraine
