With Sweden on the verge of joining NATO, we simulate Russia making a last minute grab for Gotland in the Baltic sea. With Russia using KH-47M2 Kinzhal Hypersonic, P-800 Oniks Supersonic and Kalibr Sub-sonic missiles, as well as Mig-29KR fighters, can Sweden defend with her Gripen, Visby Corvettes and RBS-15 missiles?

very well made video, as always. I would like to see the German Type 124 “Saxony Class” frigate somehow if that is possible. That would be incredible. Many greetings from Germany
How is Sweden at the forefront of various technologies?
Easy. Investment. Sweden invests in education, in infrastructure and in R&D. It's a proven formula for developing a high-tech economy.
between the return anti-ship flights and subs… i can't see how Russia could successfully land and maintain any hold on Gotland. Especially after that first 12-24 hours as a huge swath of arms is repositioned and forces called up, nothing is going to be moving in the Baltic on the surface or air.
Really great video and "what if" simulation. really shows how much of a game changer Sweden joining nato is.
One thing i really wonder about is how stealthy and countermeasures/jammer heavy those visby's are. Would bet they would be remarkably difficult to take out of action while actively maneuvering and reacting. (One thing i always balk at is the lack of maneuvers and optimal orientation when faced with an incoming threat… totally understand how hard that is to do when dealing with AI)
It could be the Aland Islands of Finland. 🙂
Nice scenario, thanks. Just wondering, do we “greep a pen” or “grip a pen” ? 😉
So, if Sweden and FInland have a defense pact, then wouldn't Finland help defend Sweden and attack the Russian ships and aircrafts? Also, there is a Nordic defense "pact" between Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Would that mean that these Nordic countries come to Sweden's defense without dragging NATO?
Well if you wanted to do this sim .actually…ud mobile the Russians as ..incompetent drunks …and Sweden would best them ..without having to try 😂😂..
An interesting scenario, and an exciting battle.
In reality, I have a suspicion that both Finland and Poland would strenuously object to Russia controlling Göttland.
Using Guam as Gotland, interesting.
Pls make more swedish videos
This is why I watch this series for these what ifs with as real a sim as possible and some human baffonery in the mix
Sweden does not really need runways, so they could rearm and refuel and keep coming. The land batteries would keep firing and the Swedish airforce would keep attacking until the Russians run out of planes and missiles. There are also Swedish submarines and then the Swedish land forces should anyone make it alive to the shore.
Russia has no chance of taking Gotland with this force. Even double this force would be hard pressed to take Gotland.
As usual, a fun video from the Grim Reapers.
It sure looked to me like the back rank SAM batteries behind the airfield were NOT firing their missiles when the second salvo of Kalibrs came in and smashed the airfield down, can you please re-check that? They should have easily survived that second weakened salvo!
We're lucky russians don't plan soo good if they did it'd probably be over for Ukraine
"… Uppsala. Obviously pronunciations will be bad."
Bruh. If you're going to be self-deprecating about your pronunciations, it's poor form to be spot-on… (Okay, fair enough, we would pronounce the two "a"s slightly differently, because of stressed/non-stressed syllables.)
On "Gotland", though, think Gott from German, and you've got it.
Z
1. We have big mouths.
2. We are smart too.
Where are the world famous swedish subs??
Russia: you can’t land if we destroy the runway
* Gripen lands on a highway *
Russia: …
What? seriously? You honestly thought Sweden had a bigger population that the UK? Than France? Than Spain? Than Italy? Bloody hell, even Germany didn't stop you, to make you think? What school did you go to? So, why are they so well known? Well, it's probably because they are all a bit explosive, with dynamite personalities you might say!! And, don't forget, as the Irish football fans are want to sing, in attempts to humiliate and diminish their Swedish counterparts and rivals with the mantra of, "Go back to your sexy wives, just go back to your sexy wives!" (There really isn't the slightest bit of sarcasm in that chant either) hahahahaha! Good Night
Iirc some of the Baltic fleet's Ropucha class ships were moved to the Black Sea in late January 2022 prior to the invasion.
Also, The UK has a defense pact with Sweden that they signed May 2022, so longer term Russia is going to have to deal with two carrier fleets armed with F-35B, and their force is pinned into the Baltic.
Tell me why the aircraft carrier in the beginning looks like a big fat toblerone!!
"kinematically notches the meteor" – yeah which shows what a rubbish game this is – nothing piloted will out turn a Meteor that's still burning – those things will pull serious G's.
Russian weapons totally over-modelled as usual.
What the point , i see a video of shaeded drone atacked from AAA and strike ther target.I belive some of reports of ukraine, but now its better cut to 50% .
Nato needs to be abolished
Sweden has been NEUTRAL for over a century! They are the go to for covert negotiations between adversaries, ie US/North Korea in in the 50's, US/IRAN IN 70's, etc. Because they are neutral they have had to build their own weaponry, create a modern aircraft industry etc. to protect their neutrality!
Russian weapons performing according to Rostec sales department.
To make it more realistic Simba should have consumed a litre of vodka prior to take off… a true reflection of modern Russian warfightimg capabilities
They made a lot of Money many years ago
As for the Lvkv9040, they are integrated in the armored batalions and iirc, at least one Patriot unit is constantly deployed on Gotland.
Check out gripens performance in redflag exercises
If im correct some russian boats need 24/7 tugboat escort? 😄
This map does a really good job at explaining why the “Russia invaded Ukraine in part because Ukraine is close to Russia so we need to keep it from being a glorified NATO missile truck” is such a stupid argument. Just look at this map. That’s all you need to see to recognize the brain rot
The most unrealistic part of this simulation: the Kuznetsov not having a small navy’s worth of tug boats in close vicinity for when it breaks down
To be fair, Sweden doesn’t need to be in NATO to get NATO’s protection. It just needs an article V-style agreement with Finland. If Russia goes to war with Sweden, and Finland is obligated to join Sweden, what is Russia going to do? NOT attack Finland? Of course Russia would. And then boom. NATO protection for Sweden
I did my stint in the Swedish Army on Gotland back in 2004. Some of my platoon mates got to respond to a Gripen making an emergency landing on the southern end of the island following a bird strike. I think it landed on a public road, and took off once they had checked for any real damage.
pewdiepie is the reason sweden is so well known
I read the name of the Russian missile as Oinks. 😂😂😂
Kuznec will never sail. Tu22 cannot carry Kinzal. Calibr is only ship and sub launched, cannot be air launched. Nothing remotely realistic but fun to see anyway.
