Throughout the 1980s, U.S. forces were on the alert, ready to act against terrorism and aggression. In U.S. Forces in Action, you’ll join our Nation’s elite forces on some of their most dangerous missions. In Grenada, you’ll hit the landing zones with the Marines and Rangers who went in to rescue American nationals and regain the island for democracy. You’ll battle your way forward with our combat troops against Cuban opposition to clear away pockets of resistance and celebrate with liberators and liberated when the job is done. In the volatile Persian Gulf, you’ll sail with U.S. Navy ships as they escort vital tankers, fight off attacking Iranian gunboats, and intercept troublesome minelayers. You’ll fly with F-111s as they launch their devastating raid on Khaddafi’s headquarters in Libya. And, finally, you’ll dog-fight with the Tomcats of the U.S. Sixth Fleet as they down Libyan MiGs that challenge them.

U.S. Forces in Action is divided into three parts, each focusing on a different war or conflict involving the U.S. military.

It shows how the U.S. forces toppled Saddam Hussein’s regime, faced insurgency and sectarian violence, trained Iraqi security forces, and withdrew from the country. It also highlights some of the key battles and operations, such as Operation Shock and Awe, Operation Red Dawn, Operation Phantom Fury, Operation Iraqi Freedom III, The Surge, The Awakening, and Operation New Dawn.
