You did start BG1 with a quest where you needed to kill rats. You started in Candlekeep, however, and just like this game, you couldn’t enter Baldur’s Gate until Act 3.
Your thrown weapon didn't return because you initiated combat with it. Entering turn-based mode skips the recall and drops it near the target. This bug (I assume) happens consistently in that situation. It's the same with an Eldritch Knight's bound weapon or the Pike of Returning from the Goblin camp.
Welcome to the Lower City. This game is massive.
The game is so long and also has weave-like storytelling style, that Nightsong quest is in fact one of the starting quests of Act1 when we talk to Aradin (the dude that Zevlor was pissed about that he led goblins to the grove) and learn about that druid Halsin joined Aradin and the party to find Nightsong, but it was actually Lorroakan bounty-advert that led Aradin to gather the party (Aradin actually gives the player an advert). At that point, at least at first playthrough, we all think that Nightsong is a weapon or something, and later we learn that Halsin was seeking Nightsong to have a go at lifting the curse, etc., until we're at the point when Nightsong is an aasimar at our camp and we finally arrive to the city to talk to Lorroakan about his advert.
Please mention DILFs and dragon weeners etc on every episode just for Odd's reaction

In case you weren't aware, Sarevok was the main antagonist of BG1 and could be resurrected and redeemed in BG2 (or one of the expansions, it's been a while since I played them) but it didn't stick.
Nice to see a chat with Devella, In my playthrough, I MIGHT have left chatting to her a bit too late and she MIGHT have been a teeny bit dead when I got there.
I have a feeling the "Haven't I done this before" is just a reference to the classic rats in the cellar quest which is in pretty much every fantasy game
