What's Happening With Star Citizen? – 3.18/3.19 Post Mortem

CIG just release their Post Morten blog about what went right and what went wrong with the 3.18 and 3.19 updates. Its a very long and detailed post which I’ve broken down into the most interesting tidbits with some light opinion.

  1. People will always complain no matter what… although this game is not perfect, it is one of the most imersive games I have ever played, you can see the developers love what they do by looking at the level of detail in most places, it is just jaw dropping… slow and steady progress wins the race. I am excited for the future of this game.

  2. Wait… this game is still in alpha? And they allow microtransactions? I'm sorry, but that really rubs me the wrong way. The promised product has not been delivered for the asking price, and yet they have the balls to ask for more?

  3. 5:44 Lol, wtf is that??

So what I'm hearing is that 3.18 exploded much like a fumbled grenade in the face and that things in the game are kind of half working as intended, half not working as intended. Have I covered the pertinent points?

  4. I have ZERO hope for this game at this point. 3.18 with the persistent world was make or break….it broke it. They cant figure out their main system for the game, it literally will never succeed. Nothing works correctly without persistence working

  5. Always fun to scroll through comments and see how some are straight up spitting shit like "scam citizen" without even finishing reading ones comment (yeah you can post it here too, you're so special), and how some are just delusionnal, reminds me of how people can easily forget all of the broken promises and under deliveries.

What I like to see the most is : "Wait & See, don't spend any more money"

    Cheers !

  6. Problem with SC is most of us are past the honeymoon phase and we love the premise and depth… but how much longer do they expect new players to fund the games development??? How many more year's before they are able to, or willing, to PUSH towards completion. Ive been playing for over 4 years and when i joined stanton was already done.

Can we please FINISH THE CORE GAME, then move on to further DLC like new systems, additional mission's, ships, etc… after the game is done and solid? After?

  7. Scorpius lovers can we please push pilot controlled fire for remote turret and increase in pitch and yaw ( the nerf was was to much and unfair.
NOW, the Ares is back to oneshotting light fighters. Give the Scorp back its sting!!!

  8. But the server meshing + a 4 real persistant universe, the idea itself is mind boggling- you can build entire governments, "nations" if you like, if you're looking down the line. And i may say that this line may be way longer than my not-so-super powered attention span, but yeah whatever, what proper dedication could get you- a seat at the table of the council of the coalition of propper-sized co#ks running the universe, virtualy speaking lol. What is there more to achieve in your life than this?

  9. Just wanted to say I unsubscribed from the game and their emails. I no longer get updates but today I wanted to see what happened since I last logged in. Basically nothing. They have gone from releasing a game 10 years ago to still nothing. I have spent a fortune on this game (for me) and won't be spending another cent and as I said I don't even get their emails anymore. They have gone from creating a game to creating a concept. I am done. Really done.

  10. SC is the dream all other space games want to be. I do not think they can mitigate the hit to LIVE, for too many underlying features are still missing. Once the parts are all in someday, then updates will be easier, but full implementations are going to be a mess. As no one client has the same PC system, they can't anticipate the impact on every client. I am looking forward to CITCON, but not expecting anything great. 2 Day event tend to scare me, for I am anticipating a lot of fluff content most likely. All though CR did confirm at the event in China, that we should be seeing some good things we all are waiting for.

  11. They should just beg the EVE Online devs to take over the project tbh, I can't believe that how CIG have acted is within legal realms – just adding random shit for their own entertainment rather than raw work and iteration to improve the underlying systems and features. Ten years of feature-creep isn't game development, it's customer misdirection. Imo.

  12. I do not play… it doesn’t have a lot to grip players I think. I am still waiting for my 600i and even the g12 rover… not playing for over a year now and happy not too.

I refuse to fund anymore into this game until it really starts to deliver and fix things.

  13. Millions of players playing my arse 😂. It’s the same 4000+ people logging in over 11 years.

CIG just opened up a new Ministry of Culture. It’s their new propaganda wing. That’s where all the sub money goes🤣

  14. I find it hilarious that the moment the bare minimum of multi-crew gameplay is introduced, people have a hissy fit. Wait until you can no longer fly Carracks and Caterpillars solo. You people are going to shit bricks.

  15. What I want to know is if server meshing will allow for a sort of offline play, or it will allow players to host a shard/instance so that they can still play in the pu even after the game is no longer supported.

  16. Until the game gets more than 4 worlds and more content to speak of (interesting side missions, more things to do on planets and in space) its just a very impressive, but buggy, tech demo.

  17. Does this game has any REALISTIC timeline/roadmap yet? An actual release date, when the game will be "ok" ?
I know it got 1006016901610 million of euros in funding and it's been in "alpha" for over 9000 years now, so i guess not but… really ?

  18. Tbh after going back to StarCitizen recently I have a new appreciation for Starfield.
SC, after years… YEARS of development still feels like bunch of very expensive assets slapped together. At any moment something WILL go wrong.
Starfield and recent NMS update thankfully scratched that space exploration itch
