Stephen Smith explores the flamboyant Baroque court of the Sun King, Louis XIV. Louis created the Palace of Versailles so he could surround himself with aristocrats, artists, interior designers, gardeners, wigmakers, chefs and musicians. Hordes of ambitious courtiers scrambled to get close to the king, but unseemly goings-on in the royal bedchamber reflected the quickest path to power.

Music too loud
The music, yeah. Bad. But imagine having access to film Versailles and doing such a bad job. And having a great title and premise, then bogging down the intro with hogwash.
🌈💝🎖
Music is to loud. Can't hear your.
Wonderful reportage on Versailles !! Unfortnately, the accordeon is a bit too loud and masks your comments time to time.
Stupid music overpowers the voice of the host and doesn't seem to match the video content.
Terrible audio 😢
what a pitty … must have been very interesting – but I stopped because the music was louder than the voice
I came into the comments specifically say that the sound was bad. Unfortunately the music was too loud and I could barely hear Stephen speaking at all. So I agree that the sound mixing was very poor, nonetheless I did enjoy the documentary.
Music too loud. Can’t here narration
Oops can’t HEAR the narration
Why that stupid music
Perhaps there is a secret mastermind at work here. All of the TOO LOUD MUSIC comments and likes of those comments count on the algorithm the negative remarks really don’t matter.
Music completely dominates the narrators voice. Also music seems to be completely irrelevant to historical content
I was looking forward to this, but couldn’t hear the narrator through the loud music so quit watching. If you do fix the sound balance, how about using some music from Louis XIV time period? He had some great composers at his court and it would add instead of distracting from the show.
if you are going to put the music so loud over the music, can you at least put subtitles? That way I can follow the video and lower the sound when the music is so loud.
Music should be even LOUDER.
Horrible overdubbing on a perfectly fine if dated BBC production. And why use corny crap? Shame. Really bad. Don't you check things when nicking other people's work?
the music is overpowering can't hear what he says
Audio cannot be heard over the music!
Save for the way too loud music which at times make it hard to hear what is said: this is a fantastic program. I enjoy it very much. Many thanks.
Unwatchable due to sound.
Please – we know how significant the material hidden behind the music is. Please consider releasing this video again without any music.
The music is too loud that I stopped watching not even 5 min into the video. 👎🏻
Unwatchable with the music volume, after five minutes I threw in the towel, thoroughly frustrated and annoyed. Fix it, or take it down.
Lately the audio makes these impossible to watch.
please master the sound, voice needs to be louder than the music
Music much?
Impossible to watch – the volume of the background music overwhelms the commentary….what a mess, too bad!
the soundtrack is suffocating the narration
For someone with a slight hearing problem, this program is spoilt by unwarranted music. That's a shame it seems interesting.
Nope. Background music is both irrelevant, and way, way too loud. A failed presentation.
I came here to complain about the loud wrong music as well. Glad I'm not alone!
