In 1997, Steve Kroft sat down with singer Jimmy Buffett. Best known for his song “Margaritaville,” Buffett has died at the age of 76.

“60 Minutes” is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen’s Top 10.

  2. The most geniune smile and even his eyes smile. Ive never seen someone who exudes happiness in his face! You can't help but smile yourself when he smiles. Thank you Jimmy for all the fun music and good times.

  6. JIMMY B is MYTHICAL & MAGICAL. He doesn't take himself seriously, he is crazy-smart, & has a wicked sense of humor & adventure. JB is IRRESISTIBLE, IRREPRESSIBLE, CONTAGIOUS, ADDICTIVE. HE is one Hell of a good time!! GOD BLESS YOU, JB & have a margarita for me up there in the clouds.

  10. We moved up to Key West from Dominica in our teens and early twenties. My baby sister and her band sang nightly here and there and she sang for Mr. Buffet's group for a while too. She loved working with him and has always said he was the best boss. She is very weepy today. His music is fun and gets everyone laughing and moving. Im sure Heaven will be groovin' tonight! Rest in joy, Jimmy! May all the happiness you brot so many come back to you a thousandfold in every lifetime.

  20. Jimmy Buffett's talents? First, he could write honest, colorful and escapist lyrics that provided respite to a weary world, and second, he presented them in a self-deprecating, welcoming way that invited everyone to join his party. That's why he succeeded as a person, a singer and an entrepreneur. He may have been calculating as a businessman, and a good one, but he always demonstrated good-natured respect for the dignity of everyone he met, and THAT'S why everybody loved Jimmy– and always will. Bless you, Jimmy.

  28. I will greatly miss him. It was his music I would listen to at the beach, home, the ride to the keys. Was a big part of the best time I have had. Going to miss ya Jimmy !!
