How 2K & Gearbox Studios Tried To Buy My SILENCE Prior To Borderlands The Pre-Sequel Release!!!

Today I’d like to show you EXACTLY how I know what Gearbox and 2k Studios were up to by buying up as many content creators as they possibly could during Borderlands 3 Life Cycle!!!

Borderlands 2 is a 2012 first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. Taking place five years following the events of Borderlands (2009), the game is again set on the planet of Pandora. The story follows a new group of Vault Hunters who must ally with the Crimson Raiders, a resistance group made up of civilian survivors and guerrilla fighters, to defeat the tyrannical Handsome Jack before he can unlock the power of a new Vault. The game features the ability to explore the in-game world and complete main missions and optional side quests, either in offline splitscreen, single-player or online cooperative gameplay. Like its predecessor, the game features a procedurally generated loot system which is capable of generating numerous combinations of weapons and other gear.

With the unexpected success of the first game, Gearbox was able to secure a budget of $30–35 million to develop the sequel. Like its predecessor, the game adopted the “concept art style”, which features graphics inspired by both photorealistic imagery and comic-book-inspired visuals. The team attempted to address players’ feedback from the first game, and recruited Anthony Burch who wrote the game’s script which is seven times longer than that of the original game. Among the game’s diverse cast of characters, Handsome Jack, the central antagonist, was created to be a charismatic “douche” that mirrors Burch’s own personality. Borderlands 2 was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2012, and it was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as part of The Handsome Collection in March 2015.

The game received universal acclaim upon release. Critics generally praised the game’s visuals, writing, gameplay, and online multiplayer, as well as its variety of guns, while criticising its mission design and content fillers. The handheld and the virtual reality versions of the game were regarded to be inferior to the console and PC versions. More than 20 million units were shipped upon release and the game became 2K’s most successful release. It was nominated for multiple year-end accolades by several gaming publications. Gearbox supported the game with four add-on campaigns, new characters and five content packs. The game was followed by Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel in October 2014, and Borderlands 3 in September 2019. According to leaks in August 2023 Gearbox Software has officially begun development of Borderlands 4 on the Unreal Engine 4.

  1. 2. I honestly do not see much wrong with 2k's actions here. I don't see the scandal. Them offering cash to not make Destiny content is hilarious though. The value of the DLC's really isn't all that bad in any of the games. They offered them all as additions to the Handsome collection and again in Pandora's Box.

  3. If they just worked with the people that actually played their games and the modding community they wouldn’t have to pay people off cuz they could just fix their issues and not have shitty quality of life problems

  4. Asmongold and quin69 have been discussing this recently with Starfield. It's called access journalism and has been going on forever in all forms of media.

Bottom line, it hurts gaming because most of the content creators become shills and are less likely to give honest opinions about games. They influence their communities to accept mediocrity and anyone that speaks out against it is a hater or just trying to get clicks by being negative.

  5. Wait so in that video with you, Bahroo, Goth and someone else (i forget who it was) when you were doing a "first" playthrough… Goth was fully memeing that you have never played that head hunter pack before. LMFAO turns out you were because Bahroo managed to crack some coding and sneak on in. Lol i give that a GG. Thats fresh on my mind because i was watching a load of random BL2 vids from back in the day a few months back.

  6. Hmmm interesting video. I wasn't in the Borderlands community when all this went down. I got into it about a year before Borderlands 3 dropped. Hopefully Borderlands 4 comes out half decent.

  7. Props to you mak! I always wondered why your videos stopped showing up. I was a huge watcher in 2012-2013. It’s really cool to see that you pushed back at this although it cost you your views and gatekeeped your success. I urge others to support free expression

  8. I remember when you first posted all this way back when. I also found it funny that there were a bunch of new people doing videos and builds for bl3 that were never around for bl1 and 2. Yoteslaya and MAK were my first two channels that I started watching back then and I really miss those days. I still watch them today.

  9. I've played all of borderlands and damn near all of the DLC. I did not finish it all but it was never about that for me. But as DLC's go honestly, Claptastic voyage is probabally one of my favorites. it was the only good thing to come out of the Pre-sequel as far as I'm concerned. But saddly from what your telling us as a whole is that Gearbox is just getting worse and worse. I couldn't tell you how many people I've suggested the Handsom collection to as a start to Borderlands because it was so much content at a resaonable price (usually about $20 when it was on sale and it was on sale A LOT) but now I don't think in good conscience I can do that anymore. I don't know. but thanks for clearing the air MAK. glad to see your Vids are getting better and better view counts.

  10. Doing the lords work out here MAK. between halo and borderlands my passion for gaming has tanked. I was always curious why they refused to point out the obvious glaring issues with the game franchise when it has the potential to be perfection in gaming. SMH

  11. All i can think about is how wonderlands base game was quite good definitely not a bl2 but somewhat worth the money and they just ruined it with patches and dlc and destoryed the endgame completely yet k6 still praised the dlc it kinda just made him seem delusional to me at the time but knowing all this it makes sense now

  12. Could you elaborate on what you mean by Battle pass for BL3? Because you make it sound like it's some kind of Fortnite, Call of Duty and Apex type of battle pass, When it's not. I don't care about BL3 like that. I'm just confused when you bring it up

  13. I’ll always play B1 and 2, maybe 3 sometimes? I’m just glad I didn’t buy Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands! There’s just to much BS going on these days. Corruption and Greed! I don’t Preorder games anymore. I avoid micro transactions, etc.

  15. Coming from a fan of the Borderlands franchise since 2012, I saw this all come together with B3. I noticed all the schills come out defending the downright intelligence insulting DLC in B3 and Wonderlands, you are not alone Mac. Always had my support and backing since this realization, and you seem to be the very rare voice of reason in this community. Respect to you, brother, for sticking your ground 💪🏼

  16. Love ya MAK but honestly atleast personally I just don't care. I like all the Borderlands game except tales and while Pre Sequel and 3 weren't as good as 2 that imo just showed how great 2 was and is. 3 was still a great game that gave millions joy and still gives people a lot of fun today and Wonderlands is super fun as well even if the dlc sucked. Saying all this does nothing but create useless drama that most fans don't care about. Enjoy the games because at the end of the day having fun and enjoying yourself is the point and if you arn't then stop playing it and move on.

  17. Sounds like like a lot of hate and I agree that all of it is bad but chill for a second I don’t think 2k or gearbox really cares anymore they know borderlands was dying and it’s only time for borderlands to be fully dead. We all know it’s coming sadly 😢

  18. if u really think gearbox is even close a situation like volition. ur highly delusional.

saints row 2022 was a complete flop in terms of profit even before its launch.

borderlands 3 was one of the highest selling 2k games of all time. and is still making nothing but bank years later.

years from now saints row will be forgotten. borderlands 3 wont. its that simple. i get u didnt like borderlands 3 mak even tho it is a good af game prob not great af and thats on them. but you gotta stop being petty as hell about it. thank you for calling out gearbox and 2k i hope they dont repeat history with bl4 but cmon mak, cmon

  19. Im fine with new skills trees, 4 is great. Im NOT fine with having them instead of original chacters. Im NOT fine with them only releasing, what was it, 1 class mod for the tree? And you coukd only get it from the dome dlc? I HATE wonderlands dlc in its entirety. So much wasted potential.

Do you know what makes you more money than the shitty dlc? GOOD dlc. How do people not realize if you want to be greedy, you must make a good product.
