There's landmarks over there. Kayaking in an unfamiliar area without GPS. Not a cellphone for GPS. An actual marine grade GPS for sport use. Without spare battery pack and a foldable solar panel. Without 90% of the brain it takes to safely get into a stupid kayak in the first place.
I found a guy in the Chesapeake Bay years ago before cell phones and he was absolutely spent and burnt to a crisp. I hauled him in my boat and he went straight to sleep
Wdym he made the right call. Obviously that’s the only call you make in that situation! 😂 he’s not some survivor genius he just got lost and called for help.
I had rested my eyes in a kayak for 20 mins… when I finally opened my eyes it dawned on me that I’m 3 km away from my port and that my anchor had failed.. please be careful while in the ocean. It’s very easy to get lost.
Whenever I do any kind of activity in the wild I always have a watch on that has a blind map of my tour or swim route or whatever so I can see which way should I go back to the start
For all of you saying “there’s land right there, just paddle to shore” that’s a few miles away. Just try kayaking that far. There’s no way he can get back there.
Seriously? Lost? Land all around him! Except…he wanted to go to his house, that he was unsure he could find. I don’t call 911 because I can’t find Walmart? Unless he had Alzheimers and couldn’t determine land from open ocean, that is a waste of resources by calling 911 or the coast guard.
Yeah, having to move his left AND right arm to paddle in the water is unacceptable. If you stop to rest, even for a second. Shark will know and call you bad names until you paddle again. Poor guy was scared he couldn't ignore Shark once his phone died.

Numb skull, Kayaking alone.

Dont you ever go out by yourself again. Glad your ok
Absolutely perfect much respect to the officers to protect and serve God Bless them
Guess the next five years he is paying the rescue
Hes in a bay. I think he just got tired

I want to see the reaction of the mans face when he gets the bill for the rescue
You made the right call!! That call cost 30k
Sounded like the officer was about to offer him a cig at the end
How did that happen when u can see land right there
And he was billed thousands of dollars. Smh
It's good they didn't arrest him for operating a kayak unsafe in open waters. Without a license, improper use of kayak. The man is lucky
How can you be lost if you can see land?
You… You can see the city behind him. It's like… Right there. How could he be lost? Maybe he was just exhausted?
If ur on west coast just hesd east u can't miss it. East coast just head west. Any port in a storm
"We're gonna have to give you a ticket for illegal kayaking"
Dude, sometimes you just Gotta paddle to shore towards the nearest house. Swollow your pride, call an Uber not the cops.
Now charge and arrest him for wasting emergency service time, wtf was he doing, just go over to the land??? sounds like guy is drunk
Land is right there? WTF
Did they really just blur the subtitles that were already on the video just to add the subtitles in again?
God bless America

What a rare dude. Others would prefer to record or livestream until their phone dies.
okay but how do you get lost in tampa bay youre surrounded by civilization
How can he get lost on the water when he can CLEARLY see the shoreline?
IF you’re ever “lost” on the water and you can see land like this guy can, just row towards the land.
Did they give him a sobriety test or demand ID?
You can legit see buildings and the shore… How the hell did he get lost?????
Dude could see land and still called the cops 🤷
That's crazy, I can see land in that video.

I'll pay taxes for that all day
Wait, what could he not see the shoreline?
