43 years ago, Poland’s communist rulers signed a key agreement with striking workers at the Gdańsk shipyard that led to the establishment of Solidarity. U.S. Republican congressman Chris Smith has urged the Biden administration to support Poland’s call for discussions with Germany over reparations. This year, Poland will spend nearly four percent of its GDP, or 35 billion dollars, on defense. This and more in today’s edition of World News on TVP World.

Poland is now the fastest growing economy in Europe and set to pass the UK in 2030. Very impressive country
As a young teen in Canada, I was very taken by the courage of the Gdansk Shipyard Union movement, Solidarity and Lech Wałęsa. I fully agree that this was one of the first bricks that started to be pulled from the foundation of the USSR.
Go, and get the money from Russia. Chris Smith should demand from Russia is paying it's land-lease debt back in full than helping Poland in extortion and bribery. It almost looks like Poland is asking Germany to pay for Poland's spending. A lot of Poles are working somewhere else in Europe, therefore the low unemployment rate. A lot of BS in this reporting.
The Szczecin & Gdansk shipyard strikes and the establishment of 'Solidarity' trade union were the first evenst that got me, just turned 12 y., interested in politics. Congratulations Poland for this achievement, a huge step for freedom. Today we all have another huge task for freedom, to support Ukraine with all they need for a certain and quick full liberation of all people and land and a new lasting security in our European community. 🔱🌻 Slava Ukraini! Heroyam Slava! Stay safe! 💙💛
I'm waiting for russia to pay reparations for the genocides at the hands of the soviets…
