Hey, where's Tokyo Shoeshine Boy, THE song for Korean War servicemen on R&R in Japan?
If my great grandpa was still alive rn he would love this music. I know that he survived the war because my grandma was born a year after the war ended.
the original K-Pop (its better than today's)
I don't really know if this supports this topic but theres actually some videos games that are banned in south Korea like Homefront because it resembles north Korea taking over south Korea or it portrays it
my neighbor a Korean war veteran passed away this night, im just listening to these songs. R.I.P.
My Great Grandmother had to carry my Grandpa when he was 1. My Great Grandmother was somewhere in the 20s.
This is the Korean this is found in English substitute salted 2011
My Granduncle was there love frome Turkey <3
My great Uncle was a part of the Frozen Chosin, unfortunately he passed before I was old enough to care and understand. Wish I could hear some stories now.
Actually crazy how much music changed from Korean War to Vietnam
I wish I could share these songs with my grandpa, as he would have loved them since he served in Korea.
🇰🇷Here is a message from South Korea, I want to say thank you for service to every collation country soldiers who helped Korea fight back against North Korea, if they weren't in Korea, I'd never existed here.
My great-grandfather was also Korean War veteran, he died many years ago when i was baby, but now I'm trying to join ROK ARMY as Non-Commissioned Officer when I become adult after 4 years to follow what my great-grandfather did, fighting against communist and defend my fatherland.
Thank you for your service veterans.
what is interesting here is the completely different tone than vietnam war songs, much less anti war, more a sense of solemn duty, it seems that not long after these men must have come to realise that they wouldn't be treated like the heroes they are when they got back home
Why does goodbye Maria hit so hard ?
While my grandfather was not in Korea, he served in the army during the war in Puerto Rico from 56 to 58. Once he came back to his wife, she had my father almost 3 years later. If he had been in Korea I probably wouldn’t exist. He was in the US Army Signal Corps as a communications specialist, he told me he snorkeled around Guantanamo Bay and worked on the planes in San Juan. He lived long enough to see a slimmer of hope a few years ago between North Korea and South Korea thanks to a certain president who I won’t name. I thought the war would finally be over. But unfortunately that wasn’t the case. He died about a year ago and there wasn’t a dry tear from me at all. I wasn’t the best grandson, but I know he always loved me and I will always remember him. I will do everything in my power to see that the war actually comes to an end. Tom S Corporal third class April 1956 to March 1958.
Jesus christ Great uncle, the shit you had to go through
My granfather was a Bulldozer driver for 3 years at the start of the war. I never met him..
Well at least we tried…
