Armed Fantasia: To the End of the Wilderness | JRPG from Wild Arms devs | Teaser Trailer

Armed Fantasia is described as a Western punk with mechanics from the spiritual heir of the Wild Arms JRPG. It tells a dramatic story that takes place in a world plunging into destruction, with players taking on the role of a group of “Pathfinders”, a group of adventurers who use powerful weapons called ARMs to eliminate the anomalies that haunt the wastes of Londeium. The battles will be turn-based but based on the Cross Order Tactics system. There will also be a “gigantic World Map” and the use of various gadgets for Dungeon exploration.

  1. This game looks awesome. Starting up Wild Arms for the first time today, been long overdue. It also took me a long time to get around to trying Grandia series, despite knowing about it for so long as well !

  2. Music is good, wilderness has room for improvement. The characters don’t look “Wild West” enough, rather they look too technological and slightly generic-anime-fantasy especially the girl character.

The main character looks dumb especially his hair, I mean you can’t have a proper Wild Arms style game without a blue-haired MC.

The gameplay is mentioned as using the cross system. So I hope it approaches its mechanical limits like it did in Wild Arms 3 and I hope the characters approach the depth and maturity of Wild Arms 2 likewise with the story.

  3. As much as the Wild Arms series and the idea is pretty interesting using western themes, I think the issue is that the plot and world building completely varies with each game.
As such unlike Nihon Falcom and the Trails (Kiseki) series, there isn't a definite lore or character or environment to hook the players to come back each time.

If there would be a remake of Wild Arms 1, but on a different scale and direction, it would be a continent with a timeline of technologies, definitions, and flora and fauna unique to it, so that it can be reused for sequels, with returning characters, and improved battle and exploration mechanics as the 'world' advances through the technology.
