Based on a few of the comments I'm learning that clearly I'm not the first to combine Thunder Smite & Destructive Wrath, which makes sense given how old DnD is, the idea though that wherever you happen to see something for the first time automatically makes that the 'original' and everything by everyone afterwards is 'copying' is as naive as it is disrespectful to each persons time and work in creating and presenting builds, I have no idea who has and hasn't covered this yet, all I know is I came up with what's presented here 2 days ago for this video and I would bet the farm that there isn't an exact 1 to 1 older version of it anywhere else.
I feel like if you are going this build 6 pally 6 cleric may be better. You still should get a lvl 5 spell slot and you gain access to aura of protection which, in my opinion, is better than the level 7 cleric options
Nyrulna is so OP, I wish I could get 2 haha, so I could do your build too. I abuse it with thief + berzerker for 2 bonus enraged throws and tavern brawler.
I am not sold on that build honestly. 1 hit wonders are fine and all that, but I would much rather have a Battle Master dual wielding hand crossbows. 4 attacks 30hp each every round. 7 attacks if you go nuclear with action surge. Plus fear effects, disarms, trips, accuracy boosts etc. through maneuvres. And if you do not plan playing with an Origin character (them having a set background), you can even make that Battle Master a dialogue, stealth and traps/locks specialist at the same time, without any loss to combat capabilities.
I'm playing the Sorc variant of this build. I might try this one later
Isnt warlock pally with charisma scaling smites better than this?
I have a question how are you abel to add the smite after you hit. I must always select it befor i make the attack. Wich is a bit annoying.
Theres a better way to min max the build in my opinion. You set your starting scores to… STR:17 DEX:8 CON: 13 INT: 8 WIS: 16 CHAR: 12. Use one ASI to bump STR and CON to 18 and 14. Both cost 2 ASI points in the creation screen. After that you free up a feat slot at the cost of having 18 STR over 20 but I think its worth. A good feat as always is war caster for your call lighting concentration.
I didn't see where you chose a background, am i missing that in your build? does it matter?
I dont get how he is smiting on every hit? My smite only triggers on a crit not just an normal attack pls help

Also might consider just running adamantine great sword, that diamondsbane auto crit and ignoring resistance is clutch
Some small changes to this build which is think could make it even better. Slight alterations to Ability Scores. Set Strength to 17 and Charisma to 8 to begin with. This will give you the option to take the Tavern Brawler Feat at Level 6 and still get 18 Strength. Bare with me, specifically with Nyrulna, the feat is actually very good, combined with the potion of Strength later on for 22 Strength, your thrown attacks with Nyrulna gain a +6 to both attack rolls and damage rolls. +16 to hit is almost never missing. Take Half-Orc as your race like another commenter mentioned for that +8 damage on a crit. Folk Hero background is the best as a side note, I know background wasn't mentioned, to take advantage of good Wisdom.

Only thing I don't like is how you have to give up the paladin aura with a level 7 in cleric.
I dont get it with these Tempest builds, how do you miss the fact that its bugged and maxes out all the damage rolls in the Thunderous smite attack? Its not "broken" its, well literally broken.

What is the best level to swap to this build. Like should I stick with Paladin until I am level 6 and then respec to this multiclass? Doesnt seem like you should do this build from the start, but instead wait until you are a certain level and respec.

which race should i choose when i want to play a paladin and a kind of sorcerer like a mix of melee and spells ?
I was using veng pally 5, warlock 5, fighter 2. Pact weapon + lvl 5 pally + lvl 2 fighter. Then I cast haste on my pally and I can divine smite 6-8 times on 1 person. If they die, great weapon fighting allows me to smack someone else
is becoming an oathbreaker bad in this build? I'm totally new to dnd and this game and without much thought I broke an oath at the beginning of the game, but don't know if I fucked up and should reset my playthrough

Why does your paladin have 2 actions?
If you wanna avoit the Illithid powers, then perhaps make a Longsword from the Underdark forge? Or does it do too little dmg? It does automatic critical on hit. Right?
